Hey Guys, l'm Mike from Taranaki. I train with a partner and l'm getting some good gains. At the moment l train on the Double Pyramid between 4 - 6 times a week. I know that my diet isn't exactly right, but its getting there (getting the balance right(. After going to the local Bodybuilding Champs and watching the Olympia streaming, gets me motivated to getting into better shape. I know that its not going to happen overnight, but any sort of advice would be greatly appreciated.

I'm 130kg around 30 - 35% bodyfat (I know bloody shocking, hence l need a bloody good diet change). I've brought enough powder to last me a little while. My Legs are my strong part in my honest opinion, but over the next few months the upper body is going to get a good hammering. My current plan of attack is three shakes (3 scoops with water) and three small meals generally meat and carbs. Any advice would be excellent.

Hi Mike. You're right - diet is going to be key in helping you reach your goals.

Check out the calorie calculator in the Diet forum resources box. That will give you an estimate of what you need to be eating. (If you know how much you've been eating previously, and they're wildly different to this estimate, then perhaps go for somewhere in the middle.)

Go paleo for a while.

Avoid processed foods.

Avoid added sugar. Animal fat in food helps to send signals of being full to the brain. Sugar doesn't. Sugar is easily stored as fat if eating more than you need for that moment in time.

Avoid sugar and heavily processed foods, and you will lose fat. Knowing you need to lose weight is the point of change. Don't set it up for a date in the future, just do it today.

Stop going for instant taste satisfaction, and focus on the long term benefits of being healthy.

Easier to use herbs and spices to bring taste up in meals.

Fat loss, and muscle gain takes time.

You get laid more too. Just saying.
