Slin - Post or Pre Workout?

Recommended Posts

These are my personal veiws.

i would say the mental aspect, shall we call it a placebo? would amp someone up.

Insulin just doesn't physically or mentally amp you up, it's not a stimulant.

Insulin is most commonly used in a bulking phase where a user will take an amount immediatly post workout to shuttle nutrients into the muscles making full use of the post workout anabolic window, there are varied methods of timing and thoughts on what is the best time to use etc. some ppl will take all post workout, others will take a small amount with every meal, others will take am and pm. It can also be used very well in a cutting phase, you can put your body into ketosis very quickly with insulin.

It is also not uncommon for insulin users to try insulin pre workout at some stage or another. It can be very dangerous. It can give extremely good pumps. I used to use insulin abit back when I was 21-23, during this time I had a play around with pre workout use. From what I can remember I always had coke or a carb filled drink with me sipping that thru out. Some workouts u got they alright, others I felt sluggish which can be dangerous. I couldn't train balls to wall for that reason, my workouts were of a low to moderate intensity. The way i train now id be collapsing if I took it.

This is over 3 years ago though so my memory isn't crystal clear but I didn't find the benefit really big enough to outweigh the risk and worry factor it played on my mind.

Others all over the world swear by it but not for me personally.

pre -workout seems fine to me. since the slin is 3hrs long you get the post-workout effect as well afterwards, unless you're doing a marathon workout.

the thing with pre-workout is you have to understand the effects of carbs on it. you can't eat a meal pre-workout so you are relying upon simple sugars (colas, lollies if you're BigKiwi :-) ). But the old fomrula of 10gms carbs per IU doesn't work since the sugars go through u quickly and the slin is still working you will soon find yourself in a low again.

I take a big bottle of coke and a water bottle and drink from either based on how I feel. At the start of the workout it's the coke, but later its water with a sip of coke in between.

If you just drink alot of sugars and run out of drink a sugar crash is totally possible on or off slin, but with slin a sugar crash feels worse...

I would use slin for a week first mate, get used to it, pack your muscles with carbs and then try pre-workout. You'll get the wicked pump which comes from having full muscles already and injecting more during a workout. Everything will harden up and you'll know when it's working.

I started on 2iu which is enough for a 50gm carb cola drink to handle no worries at all, and 4iu needs more carbs on hand.

And remember...it lasts for 3hrs so you get the post-workout window as well :-)

Period of time used. Longest I've done is 6 weeks. I found stopping it was easy enough but noticed a cloudy head in the last week which I have no idea what it is...this 6-weeker was at 2iu 4 times a day with the major meals and pre-workout.

Last few times I haven't done pre-workout slin, have done a few variations. When I do a shorter stint on it like for 3 weeks it's in the 4-5iu range and just for 2 meals, breakfast and post-workout.

Unforgettable experiences on it, enjoy!

Guys...what you fail to understand with slin, its used to force protein synthesis & glycogen into the muscle cells. Sugar based drinks are only used in an emergency to reverse hypo onset & you should always be using good clean carbs & lots of protein in conjunction with using insulin. THis is the key, not the time of day you use it so much.
