Storing cooked chicken breast until lunch at work

Hi guys, I cook up my chicken etc the night before and store it in the fridge until I go to work the next day where I put it into a sealed container. If I am at my own office I take it to work and chuck it in the fridge until I need it, but if I am out at anothers office I sometimes dont have the option of putting it in a fridge until lunch time.

Is the chicken ok to eat even though its at room temp by lunch time and been sitting like that for a while? I have already done it a couple times due to not having the option, but the way I see it, its like chicken in sandwiches sit there all day and always seem fine...

Just asking out of curiousity.. Cheers

Why dont you get yourself a cool bag and store it in there along with some ice packs to keep it cold. Better safe than sorry....

I'm a tradie. Just about every meal I eat during the day is chicken breast and veges.

Every day I pack meal 2/3/4 and sometimes 5 into my big lunchbag and it sits behind my seat In my van all day. It can get pretty warm and the chicken does heat up to room temp and beyond but I still eat it, have done for many years , and have never got food poisoning.

Sometimes if its a really warm period I will get a few ice packs and chuck them on top of the lunch boxes to be safe. But you should be fine mate.

Me too. Call it "pro-biotics" and it's suddenly fine!

EDIT: But if I don't eat it that day for any reason, I don't stick it back in the fridge for tomorrow. I think that would be pushing your luck.

Hiya, this is actually a related question so I will post it here.

When you cook the chicken to cool and eat the follow day do you

a)leave to cool before placing in fridge

b)cover and place in fridge immediately

c)cool in fridge but only cover once completely cool

I have heard a lot of conflicting things and since I seem to be susceptible to food poisoning would rather be safe than sorry.

I do this everyday too, I'm a digger operator and we don't have a fridge on any of our sites. I put my meals in my chilly bin and it sits in my car all day. Now that it's getting hot here il throw some ice in another chilly bin and put the meat and drinks in that
