Muscle shaking during exercise?

Recommended Posts

Hey there, I was wondering whether the muscle shake you get from doing very slow contractions can be used as an effective training tool?? since its causing the muscle fibres to fire to almost failure (depending on how slow you contract) is this useful for either strength or hypertrophy? or is it catabolic and pushes the muscle to hard? thoughts?

I have always assumed that this is the result of the nervous system being overload & have therefore stopped training when this occurs.

hmm i really wonder what it is now? for some random reason i assumed it was adrenaline or something kicking in because i seem to get a bit of a boost in power & feel less pain a little while after the shake starts so just use it to get in some extra reps

Yep. I just assume it's the muscle telling me it's really freaking keen to do more reps. It would be rude to not oblige.

I personally think it is the activation of nearly every single motor unit within the quads (say for leg press) since the weight you are using is very strenuous and the muscle slowly extends forcing the tension to pass through all regions of the quad therefore recruiting almost all the motor units throughout the movement. If that makes any sense? but i still cant explain whether its good or bad
