Mince

FYI - Lean premium beef mince on special at The Mad Butcher - $8.99 per kg.

Does anyone have any decent mince recipes?

I usually just throw in some mixed herbs, garlic salt and a couple of eggs to make a mince patty/giant meatball but wouldn't mind trying something new.

Cook 200g lean mince in frying pan with a few spices. Mix in a tin of chopped tomatoes.

Prepare Packet of shiritake noodles (2g carbs per 100g) drained and microwaved.

Mix the noodles and mince together and add a few dollops of lite cottage cheese.

There you have low fat / low carb Spaghetti Bollagnase

That sounds like it could be a nice change to mince patties. Will give it a shot.

Beef Mince calories??

http://www.supervalue.co.nz/Food-Nutrit ... lthy-Mince

Shows in normal mince 10-20% fat no breakdown of nutrition

Per 100g

212 cal

24.6 P

0.0 C

12.7 F

And if you're worried about the fat content, just wash your mince. Brown it, dump it in a collander, run under the hot tap til the water runs clear, return to cooking. I'd guesstimate it cuts the fat by at least half

Sooo many thing you can do with it. Those can of flavoured tomatoes are a good start.

Brown some onions, then add mince and brown, then add:

Mexican flavoured tomatoes with some beans (optional add chilli, cumin, oregano or just a $1 packet of "burrito mix")

Italian flavoured tomatoes (opt. add sliced olives, basil, garlic, etc)

Indian flavoured tomatoes (opt. add cumin, coriander seed & chilli, etc)

Moroccan flavoured tomatoes (opt add cumin, raisins, chilli, etc)

Have over rice, pasta, veges, baked potatoes, couscous, nacho chips, whatever is appropriate/easy

Then there's bakes, burgers, meatballs, etc , etc. Goes well with almost all spices, all vegetables, all herbs, all carbs.

Also try some lamb mince, pork mince, chicken mince for something a bit different. Pork mince goes epically with sweet chilli or grated fennel. Lamb mince goes very well with moroccan spice mix, chicken goes well with almost everything. Some butchers/shops do chicken breast-only mince too
