What the hell are you talking about dogg196??? Do you even know what gyno looks like? Apart from the young Indian guy in Physique short no one in those pics really has that noticeable gyno.

I'm in too minds about Teinas pro card too. Sure I think he has a great build and was deservedly Mr NZ this year but by giving him a pro card it is denying us from seeing him on stage again in NZ unless we get some pro shows here. He has great potential and will grow from here but I think he would grow more by competing regularily over the next few years a pick up a couple more titles on the way.

The other side of the coin is that we may indeed see more pro cards being given out. How awesome would it be if there were 10+ competing IFBB pros in the country. We could hold our own comps, get the best on stage with each other every year with invitationals from around the world. Something like the Elite show 2008 every year would be awesome for the sport!

Moe is putting a show on in March bro. gna be mean. a few of the competitors that came runner up in the overalls for their classes are also competing to try get pro cards..kurt dell, heidi, jade mckinnon, jo and garth, i think thats all of em.

so many haters in this sport. teina looks awesome and has a much brighter future than all the haters bagging him on this forum.

No one is hating on the athlete just being realistic and it's not deserved at all imo

word is Steve is looking insane for nabba/wff nats.

the nzifbb is fucking crazy with pro cards. Kirsty Thompson, nuria, rochelle, all fucking average at best Darren okenawei big but ugly and lacking legs, but this latest one f*ck me! just turn up win (or come second) and get a pro card.

why would you accept it?

the gh and gear this latest one would need to be the slightest bit competitive not even moes oil rich dune coons coul afford

Its common for people who only read magazines and watch the Mr Olympia to think Pros are all 250lb shredded mass monsters with impeccable physiques. It's a new level of competition that's all.

There's quite a few smaller ones, guys with new Pro cards doing IFBB shows in Tampa or Louisianna that us NZers don't even see or hear about. Have you ever seen pics of all the Pros in these shows? ... nah

Tip of the Day:

It's not helpful to base your limited idea of a Pro just on glossy magazines BBPrincess

I dont have any problems with Teina getting a pro card and I wish him all the very best on the pro stage and he dose have good size for someone his height and build.I was hoping that Garth would get his pro card .If NZ can host a pro show each year just like what Aussie dose with pro show in Melbourne and having all the major supplement shops and supplement suppliers also having a meet a greet with the pros which would be very awesome for the sport hear in NZ.I hope Garth get's his pro card one day.

What some of NZ pro's of today of done all ready like Rachelle Chase for examaple who compete in the Olympia last year I thought that was a awesome effort by becoming the first ever female pro athlete from NZ competing at Olympia and good on her as for the rest NZ female pro athletes good on them and living there dream as pro also I wish them all the very best on competing in any pro show that they compete in plus the more pro's that we can get on the pro stage it would be awesome way to put NZ on the pro stage including having some more Kiwi's at the Olympia and making the top ten at the Mr Olympia just like what Moe which I thought was very cool.

I've seen your videos and pics and I see you're a most valued member. I guess most valued member are like pro cards.

but as a most valued member I'm sure you are more in the know about pro than me since you've seen so photos on the Internet of small body builders.

when you let the golden standard of nzbbing become the likes of dan hibbs and supry you know you went wring somewhere.

Same argument floating around about qualification for pro as it was a few years ago. A lot has changed in bbing since then. Jo Stewart was offered pro countless times before she finally accepted it - and it was only a coincidence that it was Moe that handed it to her as it was international promoters/execs that were chasing her with a card.

I'd agree that there are some questionable cards awarded out there - but not everyone on the PGA tour battles it out at the top end of the income scale. Being a pro isn't about how credible you do or don't look standing next to Jay Cutler (as not many do out side of the top 10). It's as much a journey - collective experience. If you want to make this your life, dedicate as much time as you can in learning about what it is to be pro - then if you have a card at least you are more likely to have acess to the right information.

These days somewhere along the line there is going to be a financial transaction aligned to obtaining one - lets face it - the sport isnt free and sponsers, promoters and federation execs need to get a return. At some point everyone has to pay - doesnt matter what sport/business you participate. Who cares who gets a card. It never affected me or my ability to appreciate the sport or think how awesome it is for the individual. This guys card is just a first step - up to him what he does with it - even if it's nothing but flash it around his mates for a few months. Good on him - I guarantee he's dreamt about having one for some time now - I think hes fantastic - motivational - not the best bodybuilder I have seen with a card from NZ --- but at least he's living the dream.

Congrats to those that competed in the show and those that have qualified for cards previously - you may not beat Cutler, Branch or the Wolf but you are still awesome.

The guy on the left is Mark Stewart - in his prime he would have blasted nearly any NZ Pro off the stage (is an ex-pro). You could easily say that he had very much to do with Jo Stewarts development and success over the years. Based on todays standards his conditioning is impecable - is age is astounding given this. The guy on the right is Joe Ulburg - easily one of NZs best physiques of all time in my opinion - won the Pan Pacific title at age 19 years (junior) having only joined the gym at 16 years. Both men have accomplished more in and for the sport than most in NZ. Joe could have easily become pro and been credible at that.

Appreciate your opinion but take nothing away from them - they are champions. There is a fine line between being disrespectful and constructive. (Much the same as f*cktard(s) and qualified)

I don't know how many pro bodybuilders there are in the world, but to expect that any person in NZ that is offered a pro card - and accepted it - to come in top 10 or better in an Olympia show or similar is a bit far fetched. There are numerous pro shows held around the US and the world not just the Olympia which may be the most commonly known. And also for some to suggest that pro cards are easy to get here, considering there are only a handful of pro's - don't know how that assumption is made?

I think anyone that is given the opportunity to compete at a pro level is very lucky!

After looking at the video on the day Joe should have won the overall. This doesn't distract that Teina has a great even physique and has a heap of potential I wish him all the best :)

Yr one of the few sucessful NZ Pros, BK. Most of the current bunch, perhaps except Darren O, could still not beat you.
