NABBA versus NABBA-WFF... again

Recommended Posts

2001? Wow things are racing along ha ha ha ha ha

I don't think it matters does it? Not for the competitors anyway.

I agree, as far as the average competitor goes, who cares?

A comp is a comp.

if it doesn't matter why don't they use NAC as their name

Why dont you ring them and ask them?

My post is from the view of a competitor, not federation management.

OK, I've split this into a new topic so you can all discuss it.

I have no bias towards either association, but I don't want a topic that's supposed to be about an event derailed by politics. That's not fair to the organisation running the show, or the athletes competing in it.

In THIS topic however, you can be as political as you like! :D

hello mr hardwick nice of you to join in.

So anyone who says they dont care must be Mr Hardwick? lol....

Peter is a nice guy... and he sure does care, a whole hell of a lot.

He used to part pay competitors to go overseas and was sponsoring guys way way back.

Yep Pete is a top bloke! Paid my accom In taupo the first show I ever did when I was 17.

He was always helping fund the bodybuilders comp expenses.

Such a pity his Jim Pitt led federation did not fund competitors as often promised. NABBA/WFF New Zealand Ltd was set up so it could assist funding for athletes into NABBA & WFF International events & have done so to the tune of NZ$20,000 since its inception in 2010

And that's great.

But it's not people's right to be funded its a privilege and if the money's not there well it's not there.

What's your beef with nabba nac rod?

I suggest that you look at their societies P&L over the last few years to see how much money has been spent on overseas travel. I would be very surprised if that added up to athletes funding. Executive travel, yes. Then there is the continual misuse & misappropriation of the use of the name NABBA INTERNATIONAL. They still operate a site under the NABBA International guise. They only have naming rights to NABBA in NZ because they were a registered society under that name years ago. It has no relevance to their current parent body which is NAC in Germany. They cannot send any athlete to a NABBA INTERNATIONAL event anywhere in the world but they continue to mislead their competitors that they do.NABBA INTERNATIONAL could sue them for breach of naming rights but in the world of BBing they are so insignificant that it is not worth their while. Jim needs to accept his fate & move on & let the younger members run the federation in a just & honest way. Renaming it would be a good start.

Nabba NZ, Good organized shows, run on time usually, lots of shows throughout the year, and a heap of competitiors, all having a good time and doing what they love with no dramas. I dont see how thats a bad thing and why some people cry about it!

Who gives a shit who the word NABBA belongs to? They've been run with this name for years and thats how they're recognized by most athletes. After all it should all be about putting bodybuilding in a positive light for all federations. Come on guys lets just enjoy the sport and stop being drama queens!

Well Bobsta I'm sure "you would give a shit" if you turned up to a false NABBA International event & it was cancelled because Jim cannot use that name anywhere other than in NZ. That's why your false NABBA International Universe in Cebu, Phillippines on 27th Oct has been cancelled due to the fact that there is a legitimate NABBA/WFF Federation now operating in the Phillippines that holds legal rights to the NABBA name.

I don't love anyone all, my view is the same expressed by bobsta.

And further more Bobsta, I can tell you what I know to be fact, that those Athletes that your Federation is so looking after, the ones that attended last years fake Universe or Phil-Asia Comp in the Philippines....

They were supposed to get funding and discount accommodation. When they arrived they got bused to an office and were told to pay for their accommodation plus any extra days stay they required there, monies were taken from all competitors.... When they got to the hotel one of the athletes happened to enquire as to the cost of the rooms and was told it was exactly half what they had just paid.... Your fine upstanding & caring Executive had just ripped everyone off for double the normal price.....

I might add I say this personally as I am no longer part of the NABBA/WFF Exec in NZ, but really this is disgusting behaviour & not the first time I have heard of this type of thing.

Lol MNZ its not my federation! Im supportive of all who represent bodybuilding in a positive manner. Obviously there are many sides to all these inside stories which I know nothing about and dont realy care to know.

My point remains the same, if you want to be part of a good show either as a competitor or spectator in New Zealand, then Nabba NZ is a great option.

If the athletes only reason to do a show in NZ is so that they can go overseas and compete I guess they need to do their own research and figure out the best option for them, either way its going to cost them.

I just find it funny that it always seems to be the Nabba/wff people doing all the bagging! Either way I see you're very passionate about this subject and maybe for a very good reason but the fact remains Nabba Nz still runs great shows in New Zealand for people who want to compete here

It does seem to be a fairly one-sided vendetta, doesn't it? I don't know whether this the official view of the NABBA-WFF executive, or whether it's a few die-hard fans, but to be honest, I don't think it does the organisation any favours being seen in this light.

MuscleNZ, that's a pretty worrying allegation you're making. You say you know it "for a fact" - can you provide proof? Who were the athletes involved? Did they ever confirm this story publicly? Are you sure the extra money didn't cover other costs? Was it NABBA NZ who was taking the money? If you're going to make an allegation like this, you need to be able to back it up. Otherwise it's just malicious rumour, and potentially defamatory. :?

I'm sure Peter or jim won't take and court action isn't Graeme lancefield still waiting to be taken to court as the fake president?!

maybe the nabba NAC don't get involved as they know they are not part of nabba international.
