synthol-3pack-synthrol877-large.gif

^^Just joking, but short of synthol or implants there's probably no quick fix!

I believe working them 2-3 times per week, with a combination of heavy low reps & high volume / high reps, worked for me though its still a work in progress!!

Some fascia stretching may help (and hurt like f*ck!!) as I believe the tight fascia restricting growth is what makes calves so stubborn in most people.

Just a thought.

there is no magic trick, or at least not one people share with us :pfft:

i certainly don't have epic calves (not YET anyway!) but certainly noticed that nice shape coming in along with the newly added mass thanks to the advice on this thread : viewtopic.php?f=3&t=15979

basically meataxe put a really strong emphasis on giving the calves really good stretch all the damn time and vracula came in with the suggestion of super high reps even starting from 100 standing (no added weights) very slow contractions, doing it every 2nd day and making sure that i don't try hit them after a legs session since can't seem to find the energy to do calves properly on those days.

i also use seated calf raise machines but still doing it really high reps (so dont' really have to use much weight still) and focusing on making sure the tension is always on the calves - i'll cup my hands around them just to make doubly sure that i am really squeezing those (sometimes lose focus and bring it up too fast, consequentially alot of the calf is actually still soft so that rep is a failure)

dunno, just live your life as a super fatty then go down to a normal weight, worked with, they call me calfzilla of the south now

fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu jealous as of the fatties with massive calf muscles, don't even have to work them separately seems just some walking is enough for those guys

I would focus on getting a big squat. It is unusual to see a dude with small calves who squats 500 pounds. Sure, train your calves as well. But a big squat is the best pathway to a big set of calves.

Give me a few more months and I'll be there :pfft: I might be an outlier, but I've done a lot of squatting, and progressed a fair bit this year, and it hasn't done anything for my calves. Not complaining as I've never really trained them and probably only will if/when I intend to get on stage, just my personal experience.

I'd advocate plenty of squatting and calf work. That way, if your calves don't respond well, you'll still have a decent squat to make you feel better

Pretty much the same advice here that I've given to many.

....walk into the gym and have a calf day!!!!!!

Blitz the fuckers for an entire workout!!!

Thats it!.

Too often (or always) we throw calves in as a sundry right at the end of our favoured BP's because we consider them low priority then end up looking mutanty 6 weeks out and panic.

The reality is calves are one of the few BP's that can be worked every 2-3 days and recover sufficiently.

Start your workout with calves and attack them with good form. By that I mean slow on the negative and explode on the positive.

Guaranteed they will respond.

Sorry but as a person who is suffering from the same problem your preety much fucked,it's gonna take a lot of hard work to see minimal results, here are a few lessons i learnt after researching the f*ck out of it

1) weight training alone wont build calves, run on your toes,do 100 reps, bodyweight reps,it is unlike any other muscle, maybe comparable to forearms at the most but it doesnt get as much attention and so it get's ignored

2) you are never gonna have 18 inch calves ,if it was possible calf implants wouldnt be necessary in the bodybuilding community .

3)if you are not going to make them your focus they are not going to grow, you have to be obsessed with them

4) make stretching them as important as working themout, not only will they save you from having future leg problems, but it will also help them grow

5) wear shorts to the gym ,coz everytime you admire your cheat or biceps ,your calves will remind you of what is neglected.

6) give them a break every 8 weeks, like a weeks break, this is ofcourse providing you have been traing them atleast 3times a week.

7) People will make fun of your puny calves, they will never understand ,only people who have truly tries to put on mass on their calves know the pain and dedication it takes for them to grow.

8) they will not grow overnight, but dont be disheartned keep working themout, coz atleast you know you are giving it your best shot come what may.

9) bouncy reps are stupid ,please do not do them, slow controlled reps, be humble with the weight on the stack

10)crazyfacials has calves like zeus himself but he is a homo.

Full Rom of motion. No momentum, focus on stretch and then using your calves only to shift the weight from that bottom position to full contraction. Vary your reps amid basicallyjjust push them as hard as you can 2 or even 3 times a week.

As everyone else is saying dont worry abbiur weight just focus on full Rom.

If you can stand it try massaging them.between sets and stretching between sets as well. Will help with the pump.

Hey man this article helped me with my calf training

http://www.animalpak.com/html/article_d ... n=training

I've also got good gains using this routine if you want to try it (it ain't for the faint hearted though):

Calf + (up to you but i do) Hammies

3 sets of 45 reps mix stance calf raises, 15 with toes out heels in, 15reps with toe in heels out, 15 reps normal stance- drop the weight as you fail.

3 sets of 20 smith machine reverse calf raises

3 sets of 20 seated calf raises

try and go as heavy as you can and get the every rep out plus tense at the top of each rep for at least 1sec and have a eccentric phase of at least 5secs on all exercises, this will help tear the muscle and stretch the fascia and stretch in between sets too to stretch the fascia even more.

Then add a couple of these or other calf exercises on quad day.

Hope this helps :D
