Hello.

I dont like running around the streets and i dont like tredmills and i dont really like to be seen running.

For some reason i get pissed off when i see people running on busy streets.

Appart from skipping.. what else could i do that would be considered cardio by myself not at the gym?

Burpees get me puffing pretty hard. Can these be used as cardio?

Thanks

Really, guys? Have a think about it, and edit your posts if you come up with something that's useful or funny. :-s

Bruce, burpees are great if you're doing HIIT cardio. Have you tried that?

If you're wanting regular steady state cardio, what about bike riding? Either on the road, or on a trail.

(I moved your post too, BTW. You were asking in the powerlifting section, and they're not exactly famous for their cardio! :pfft: )

Oh, unfair, Pseu - we'll do cardio, but only to avoid moving up a weight class

OP, Pseu is right, there's heaps of options.

If you want high-intensity intervals, there's burpees, sprawls, mountain-climbers, star-jumps, all sorts of things. for a conditioning track between fight moves, my combat class uses 30s each of four of those, done twice (so a total of four minutes, no rests) - going hard, and done with good form, that'll get you huffing! A minute's rest at the end of each four-minute block, and you could build 10, 15, or 20m or longer of intervals.

If you want longer time-frames, steady state, to do away from the gym, biking is probably one option.

you are right to get pissed if you see people running on busy streets - running on streets is illegal and downright dangerous.... sidewalk is there for a reason.

if you are on that secret agent/ninja time and don't wanna be seen running but also don't wanna go gym for cardio then consider running in the earlier hours of the morning or later at night while it's still dark.

if you got kind of a big yard you could make a nice little track with some random objects to jump over here and there. then again, grass is pretty damn muddy right now

could consider investing in a treadmill or other cardio equipment thing

Look at Strongman events for inspiration. There are so many objects around the house, in the garage etc that you can use to make a workout hard. Fill empty milk bottles with sand and do dumbbell swings or presses and then burpees. Seen people do rope whips (I guess you'd call them?), just sub in extension cords as a replacement. Add in all the other exercises people said and you'll get winded quick

Come on, bro, I do plenty of walking between the squat rack, deadlift platform, and the bench press  :pfft:

lol um what...illegal? really? sounds like some made up faggotry. calling bullshit and requesting proof that it's:

1) illegal in nz

2) actually been enforced here if it is illegal

pls respond

i wouldn't run through a busy area like through a CBD, but thats only cause people would get in the way and f*ck up my run, and have to wait for traffic etc. i dont think thats what the OP is meaning though...

to the OP: run on a beach or something or just drive out to the country and go for a run on the back roads there

i think it's called jaywalking (?) illegal but i don't think you would be sent to jail for it, much bigger crap to worry about. even if it were not illegal in NZ, walking in the middle of the road where cars pass by is still dangerous to you and menacing to drivers.

sidewalk is there for a pedestrians, the road is there for authorised cars/bikes. you would not walk on the roads just as you would not expect cars/motorbikes using the sidewalk

if that's not what he meant then what exactly was he meaning? seems extra wierd to get pissed at people who are taking a legit walk on the sidewalk

no, jaywalking is the reckless crossing of a road, not running on one

yes jaywalking is illegal in new zealand, no cops don't usually give a shit. i jaywalk right outside the police station on vincent st from time to time, even when in plain view of an on duty cop, nothing ever happened. worst that can happen is you can get fined up to $4,000 i think..def not jail

anyway think op meant street as in walkway, never seen ppl actually run on busy roads.. depends where you live i guess

oh i see, so reckless walking/running on a road as long as you are not crossing may be legal after all...

this is how i derived that OP meant street and not sidewalk - mention of busy streets + guessing that no one in their right mind would 'get pissed off' at seeing people walking on sidewalks

I dont like running around the streets and i dont like tredmills and i dont really like to be seen running.

For some reason i get pissed off when i see people running on busy streets.

i think hes meaning people who run on footpaths in busy areas, like through the middle of town rather than meaning running on the carriageway of busy roads.

sidewalk is there for a pedestrians, the road is there for authorised cars/bikes. you would not walk on the roads just as you would not expect cars/motorbikes using the sidewalk

that applies on a 'motorway'..not on normal roads.

i walk on the road all the time, walk in front of cars when they're at give-way/stop signs. u mad? only one phaggot has said anything (yelled some shit at me), so I walked over to him and told him to get the fuq out of his car and fight if he had a problem and he wound up his window and drove off lol

lots of roads dont even have a footpath. Running on the road is better for you than on the footpath too because ethers less impact from chipseal than from smooth concrete.

anyway the OP is too beta to run if people see him for some reason, so i would suggest he run on quiet back-roads.

you are like a professional interpreter, why aren't you a mod??
