NZ Classic Cup 2012

Much point in commenting on the thread then?

Plenty. Its a forum and its a discussion tool. Im not hating on raw lifting just stating thats it flippen boring watching flights of nothing until maybe 1-2 big guys pop up a 300 raw squat, 180 bench or 300 pull. At least equipped lifting has bigger numbers and more crowd appeal. The public dont care if you have gear on ... They want numbers and big ones.

Just like there would be no crowd at WSM if they dragged cardboard boxes around

where are all these big boys lifting weights?

for the most part raw lifting runs faster. Dudes are hitting big numbers raw as well and plenty are hitting small numbers in equipment. Sounds like straight hating to me. NZ classic cup will be awesome. Is the legend Danny doing it?

May I ask, what are your raw, NZPF-competition numbers?

I think it's pretty inaccurate saying crowds don't want to watch the raw competitions, I think crowds appreciate the fact people are lifting with no gear. And to be fair there is plenty of raw lifters pushing some massive weight around...

It will be interesting to see what sort of crowd the Oceanias draws being raw only.

Raw is the future of IPF lifting. We must all endure hours of school boys squatting sub 240 and benching 100 to get to see 1-2 of the very few mass monsters that are left actually moving some weight. Cant be flocked going to watch that sorry.

Have you ever been to a powerlifting comp.... If so its quite clear there are plenty of smaller lifts with gear on than some of the raw stuff that happens in NZ mate. Can give you examples if you like but if your big on the PLing you likely already know the good raw numbers being put up all around the place...

May I ask, what are your raw, NZPF-competition numbers?

:ditto:

No but i see i touched a nerve there boys :pfft:

How many will raw squat or pull 300.... Not many. Danny probably hit a 330 the way hes been going and other than that maybe my mate from the house here in Cds. Might be a couple 300s pulled if your lucky but personally doesnt wind my crank where as equipped lifting has generally bigger numbers.

Dont get upset cos someone doesnt love it like you do. Everyone entitled a view kid.

Im not going to talk about my lifts.. I dont need to after 12 years in the sport and nzpf

That's it guys, the last 48 years of unequipped powerlifting have been good, but testtubebaby has spoken, no-one wants to witness people throwing around weights without wearing at least one layer of tight polyester. Time to pack up and go home, there is only Equipped Lifting.

Great comp today! The organisation - loaders, spotters, refs, jury table etc.

Big crowd and heaps of lifters.

Best Team (male and female) - Waikato/ Bay of Plenty

Team Central Districts will be happy - Damon Tafatu and Tasha Williams cleaned up with Best Male and Female lifters of the comp.

Damon (118kg) went 300/200/260 = 760kg and just missing 210 bench and 290 deadlift #TheMan

Tash - 190kg deadlift - easy! She also won most promising powerlifter overall (male and female).

I had an ok day - squats were BAD lol, bench and deadlift awesome.

BW - 143.1kg. 312.5/177.5/292.5 = 782.5kg (7.5kg PB). 4 x PBs and 1st place SHW (only SHW hehe \:D/ ). Many thanks to Tonka and his training partner (sorry forgot name) for working my corner today - you got me past a good mental barrier uso #Grateful. I wouldn't have done so well in the bench and deadlift without your help.

Phil Middleton cleaned up the Master 1 division with the overall awards and NZ records as well.

Joel Hintz won best sub junior and best junior over all - heaps of potential.

Big ups to Tui from Palmy!! Tui hit a 180kg Squat (10kg PB), 130kg Bench and a NZ Record 218kg Deadlift (8kg PB). His total (528kg) also means he won the U74kg Division!

It was an awesome day - Julian Perry is THE MAN on the mic - he kept the crowd laughing and buzzing. Dave Dunford as well kept the crowd well informed and buzzing - great guys to have on the mic.

Big ups to WBOP, Paul Sellars, Warren, Julian, Darren Neves, Serena Perry, June Johnson (sorry if I forgot anyone) for an awesome day.
