Blackmores 'Mens Performance' Multi

Recommended Posts

Not much of a review because I don't know jack about Multi-Vits.. just sharing experience on what I'm using now (and briefly what other brands I've used in last few months). Would appreciate feedback if people suspect it's not a good brand or perhaps if there are alternatives out there with even better value for money

Blackmores Men's Performance Multivitamin

My Experience (with this Blackmores one and other various multis)

Taking my vitamin caps more as a preventative measure rather than out of some known shortages, I'm also a bit lazy on some days when it comes to getting in a good share of fruits. My only known deficiency in the past has been Iron and since then I've gone through the prescribed period of tablets to remedy that & had full blood tests afterwards to ensure everythings fine.

Started taking multis a couple months after I started working out and first thing I tried was Anavite from Gaspari. The dosages were pretty high (3 tablets twice a day was recommended but I dropped it down to 1 tablet 3x a day, so one with each main meal). The tablets were easy to swallow and gave really nice tingles (courtesy of the Beta Alanine). The tingles didn't go away through the entire time I had it so if you don't like that feeling then take it as a warning. I decided not to buy Anavite again though because I realised there were cheaper multis out there (much cheaper!).

Next stop was ON's famous Opti-Men. Kind of smells a bit and hard to swallow initially because of gag-reflex (no homo) but got used to it eventually. It was significantly cheaper than Anavite and seems amazingly popular all over the internet. Didn't notice any negative nor positive effects from changing over from Anavite to Opti-Men besides the lack of BA tingles.

Would have kept on with ON's Opti-Men but one day I stumbled across an alternative which seemed like even better value for money which was Blackmores Men's Performance Multi.

Definitely no expert when it comes to multis so when I turned to the ingredients label I didn't really know what I was looking for. What immediately caught my eye was the simple once a day dosage and the fact that it had seemingly fair doses of all these other things which were normally quite expensive at sports nutrition stores such as ZMA, Tribulus Terretris (6grams of it at that!), Milk Thistle (4grams) and Gingko Biloba (500mg). I wasn't sure whether I needed all that or not (especially the Tribulus at my age) but the fact that I could get all of that on top of the usual multi vits while saving money at the same time was particularly attractive.

Didn't find any online reviews on this (the supp stores don't seem to stock it) so thought I'll just buy it and see how it goes.

This one was also a small tablet and smells kind of like toothpaste so easy to swallow. Since it's a dosage of just one a day I was real surprised how they fit all this stuff into it, especially considering that when it comes to Tribulus caps alone you need to take more than just one.

Across these three products I didn't notice anything particularly different besides the BA tingles from Anavite. There might have been slight performance differences among them but if that was the case, it was so small that I didn't notice. Still don't know why some brands would be so much more expensive than others, nor what would be the advantage of taking higher dosages as none felt different to me.

The one area where I do believe multis seem to be helping me in is with my immune system, I used to be sick all the damn time and I do still get sick now but not near as often. This is the main reason why I'll keep taking them.

* Disclaimer : My entire experience so far has been pretty much all while on a bulk of some sort (so always in caloric excess) and though I forget my fruits on most days, my mother makes sure I get in some greens for dinner. Maybe I would have seen bigger differences between them all if I was on a cut or perhaps if I had less veges with dinner?

Recommended dosage

1 tablet a day with a meal

Price

Both times I brought it from Countdown, it was on special at $42 down from $50. Seen it at some pharmacies too at same usual price of $50.

At $40 for 100 days it's roughly $12 a month.
