Eggs...how much is to much?

So my question regarding eggs is how much is to much?

Egg (yolks) are high in cholesterol, but if your just having the whites how bad are they for you in large quantities?

I don't currently eat a hell of a lot, but just intrigued.

Normally for breakie ill add 6 egg whites and two (yellow and whites) with my protein shake.

Dietary cholesterol has little impact on cholesterol levels in the body, carbohydrates have a larger impact. So to answer question, eat up dem whole eggs as neither the yolks or whites are bad for you. The yolk is the power house in which the vitamins are stored so are a lot more good than bad

From 1998 - 2000 my sole diet was 12 eggs a day (with 1kg steak, 1kg potatoes, 5 bananas, and top-up meat with ham...oh and lollies).

When the farting eventually became a health hazard I went to the doc for blood tests and Cholesterol was 3.5 which wasn't a concern.

Gives you great shiny skin though :-)

Too much is when you spend an unreasonable portion of your day cooking eggs :)

hahaha true!

Reminds me of the vid of Jay Cutler sitting down to breakfast and next to him at the dining table is a gas cooker and he's stirring his scrambled eggs while he eats his other meal.

i sometimes boil the bitches and them like snacks throughout the day.i wish i had some right now. they are so delicous. i feel like i could eat 30. na but probably do about 6-10 a day. yolks are the best! anybody who reads this please who only wants the whites send me your yolks.

I couldn't be assed to cook them. Just chuck them into my blender with protien, oats and fruit and things.

Still have not contracted salmonella.

Neither have I, from eating 2-3 dozen raw eggs every week. We are the ONLY living creatures that cook their food - go figure.

I believe that only about 1 in 30,000 raw eggs is infected with salmonella so don't worry about that.

However raw egg is much less bioavailable than cooked egg so worth cooking them for that. Sucks if you are only absorbing around 50% of the protein you are eating...

Not hard to scramble/boil eggs

PD hit the nail on the head with that one.

Eggs are one of the best foods you can eat why would you limit yourself?

Also remember dietary cholesterol has an important function in the body- producing hormones i.e testosterone. So no reason to limit yourself and as PD said cholesterol in the body is more influenced by carb intake

This is why I don't do them raw anymore.

I love them, and for the price, they are a damn cheap source of protein and other goodies.

If cholesterol was purely caused by diet, then it would be cured when diet changed. Some people eat well and are cursed with a high count. genetics.

I eat heaps and had a great blood test last time. The nurse was impressed.
