NZ Fitness Expo

Firstly, thanks Pseudo for the chance to win tickets to the Expo. Just thought I'd give my impression of it and hope others who went will as well.

It was definitely better than I had expected.

There was entertainment going on somewhere most times you just had to look for the crowds and follow the noise.

Probably caught up with 20-something different mates, girls, and competitors....except for the illusive Mike K and SG. Despite going around the Expo for about 1.5hrs we never crossed paths!

The Strongman event was an eye-opener as I've not seen what they get up to at all. Never had an interest in pulling a truck or flipping a tire (would rather roll one around, just seems smarter to me....) but it was amazing to see the grip strength these guys have developed! Holding onto a dumbbell with a 57mm bar diameter is crazy. They had a demo dumbbell loaded to 50kg for the crowd to try and see if they wanted to enter the event. But I wasn't wearing the right pants for it, came unprepared....Tried to lift the 50kg dumbbell off the floor and wasn't gripping it right. Got that sorted and lifted it off the ground no worries but was incredibly humbled by the strength involved, and these guys went up to 90-100kg dumbbells! Fark

Missed the Pole dancing, the Zumba, and the Pump classes (dammit).

Watched the Navy guys using some pretty cool Fitness gear was good see a set of Equipment that wasn't just a bench press and a lat pulldown combined into one machine. This things was huge and had exercises I had never seen before. Cross-fitters would probably loooove this one.

Brought a couple of litres of EggCell egg whites I've always wanted to try these. Mixed with OJ these don't taste like egg whites at all and already had some in scrambled eggs today.

Brought a top from Evolution Systems and a couple of bottles of NutraTech ThermoJet...my next pre-workout supplement. Supposed to be a Euphoric Thermogenic :-) hope so!

The Nutrex girls were looking sweet with great racks, and was impressed with the variety of Fitness stands, and the people visiting the Expo were from all walks of fitness as well. Came away with a few samples of stuff to try, sweet way to spend 2hrs on a Sunday!

How was your experience?

I went on Saturday - many thanks to Psedo for the opportunity to win the tickets

Was a mint trade show I reckon and can only get bigger. I went to Filex in Sydney in 2010 and walked away with heaps of freebies - I was hoping the NZ Fit Expo would do the same and it did - think I walked away with about $100 worth of free stuff - not bad for a 2 hour walk around \:D/

Like Android - I caught up with a whole heap of mates in the fitness industry - which shows me how small the industry is in NZ lol. I caught up with Nate too - THE MAN!!! - cheers for the freebies bro

The Crossfit comp was mint - had a couple of mates competing in it and I got to meet Garry Jones - who won bronze at this years Crossfit Games in the masters - choice guy to talk to.

Meeting Forrest Griffin was mint - I tried to get him to hulk up in my photo and he goes "I don't that" and laughed lol, so we did the mandatory fist photo lol - nice guy to talk to.

Laura Prestin was a cool chick to meet too - it wasn't crowded when I got to meet her, so we started talking about powerlifting and training - she wished me luck in my comps \:D/ - very down to earth girl.

Will definitely go again next year - hope they make it bigger and bring over more bodybuilders rather than more fitness models (no disrespect to fitness models + no homo) \:D/

Haha! Super nice guy. He actually smiled in the photo we got of him, it looks kinda unnatural 'cos I've only really seen photos of him looking pissed off lol.

Expo was good fun. I wish they had stalls of food/drink inside or at least a few different options outside.. From memory there was only one out there?

Met Teuila Blakely from Shorty Street at the Eggcell stall (man she is TINY), logged in to my facebook to "like" some random Nutrition company for a bag of goodies lol, and bought some protein powder and a foam roller. Even got a free massage for the DOMs in my arms from the people ambush marketing their natural cream for sore muscles (the ladies were lovely and the cream was actually pretty good.)

Crossfit Invitational was awesome too - I'm now a fan girl of Ruth Horrell-Anderson. Gutted I missed out on the strongman events on Sunday!

Next year should be a goodie. Looking forward to it.

holy cow you're a photo whore

but srs nice pics mate, heard you were around the show and bumped into Lisa but couldn't see you anywhere.

Darren trains at BTS going to be good seeing him up on stage in 8 weeks! They were selling NutraTech stuff cheap as...5lb WPC Jungle Banana flavour for $60 and the samples I got taste damn good!

And the ThermoJet fatburners were $40 instead of $75 they were giving away free samples of this as well

Good Pics nate, do you work for Nutra Tech?

Was sponsored by them until recently. Great products & great guys.

They now sponsor Darren Farrow (Physique), Lisa Gatman (Glamour), Raechelle Chase (Figure) & Matthias Schnisa (MMA).
