Benchpress 1RM shoulder 'crack'

leading on from the 'vader torn pec' thread - heard an almighty crack in my right shoulder when attempting a 1RM benchpress this week. instant loss of strength and the spotters got me outta it pretty quick. pain not too bad and still got a good range of movement in it before it gets nippy. no bruising, swelling or blood pooling.. .

obviously not as serious an injury as his - have a musculoskeletal physio booked for monday (quickest i could get) - but wondered if anyone had any advice / tips in how to manage it till then. been taking ibuprofen / voltaren tabs to keep the inflammation down - but anything else?

getting para about loosing months off my regime

I always found soldium diclofenac 60 mg mixed with a little amitriptyline 20mg helping to sleep fixed most pain. Took 8 weeks for my buldging neck to settle down and amitriptyline was what made it settle down - do a google and see what it can do :pfft:

Icecream and cheese burgers  srs.

Steak was telling me about an article re: not icing these types of injuries but allowing the blood to freely circulate. I havent read it yet but it makes sense.

The last time I heard a pop like that in my should I blew out my rotator doing 265 raw ... was fine for a few hours but then lost ROM and could only train with a 15kg d/b for sometime after that. Injury may not present itself until inflamation goes down but suppressing the inflamation may delay recovery.

I always recover faster from injury with surplus calories and rest

cheers guys - been hammering the voltaren tabs and resting up. saw physio last night and torn the AC ligament connecting the clavical bone to the shoulder. six weeks off weights - swimming only. gutted. if it resposnds well to self-healing then no need to go further but if not - ultrasound to assess the tear and then off to an orthopaedic surgeon for a consult.. .

what's interesting about it is the pain is minimal for a serious injury - kinda scary thinking people might just go straight back out lifiting thinking its a slight strain etc. his advice was if you ever hear a crack or a snapping sound like that - touch nothing till you've seen a decent physio - no matter how much movement you still have.. .
