How do you combat hunger on low fat diets?

hello

So my current diet's fat comes from traces of whatever is attached to my protein intake (whey/lean beef/chicken breast) etc and although I eat a shit load of veg too (300g veg+300/400g of pumpkin for lunch/dinner) I still get hungry esp when doing cardio...20 mins in and all I think about it getting my munch on.

I know some OTC fat burners can help (any idea of which are good ones now days?) but other than that what else can be taken to help?

thanks

Not exactly OTC, but you could hit your doc up for some Duramine. A mate gave me one to try a while back and it wasn't til about 3pm that I realised I hadn't felt like eating anything. No hunger pangs, no urge to splurge, nada. Good juju bro

How long have you been on this diet, CF? It can take a few days for your body to get used to the lower food intake. Once it does, you should be fine for a couple of hours after each meal - but you'll definitely know when it's time to eat again! :D

Why are you on such a low fat diet? Doesn't sound too healthy

trying to lean out for a silly undies comp mate

About 3-4 weeks now, it wasn't too bad at the start, but once carbs got low too it started to suck, like I will be ok for pretty much the whole day, but when I do my cardio session, like lets say the cross trainer I normally can bang out an hour on level 10-12 easy... now days within 20 mins all what I can think about is food, I suppose with my glycogen levels being low I should really lower the intensity/levels and not just go crazy like I used to.

It's easy to combat it. Just think about the final product. Not turning up to a show looking like shit and everyone thinking, "Wow, someone who actually dieted for a comp!"

Serious man, I'm on low fats as well. Basically all the fats I get are through my eggs and whatever protein source I have for dinner (chicken or steak). Fish fats should be zeroed out.

From reading your journal, you can't just get by on a high protein and fucking nothing else diet. Surprisingly, no one (that knows what they're doing) diets like that. It's generally, high protein, low carb and next to nothing fats, or high protein low-medium fats and next to nothing carbs.

Try bumping up your carbs an extra 50-100 grams for a day, and then see if you weigh less the day after, you'd be surprised.

Should also combat your hunger a bit.

Strange comment about fish oils SUAS, my Coach (multi National title holder & top 2 Worlds so kinda knows his shit! ), upped my fish oils significantly when I began dieting hard?? I do agree with you about focusing on the end product tho SUAS!

I'd agree with Pseudo that you do get used to it after a week or two, however if you are still feeling too low a boost in one form or another might help. Some use a pre-planned cheat / refeed meal, though I'm not afforded this luxury! I am however able to push up my existing carbs for a day if I'm too flat (physically or mentally) for too long (i.e. more than a day or two in a row).

Cardio for an hour is hard when you're low - I tended to split mine to 30 mins in morning (rising to 40 mins 6 weeks out) and 30 mins in afternoon (after training & posing closer to show).

Fats give you a sense of fullness. Eliminating them will be hard in this area.

I know bro, everytime someone says they're hungry I ask them how much fats they're eating (lol I never practice what I preach)

I've increased my fish oil (nature's owl 1500mg gels ... I take 2 x 3 times now) also took 60mg DMAA before the cardio session...did 45 mins on level 8 , last 15 mins on 12 worked a charm to kill hunger, not to mention I agree with Nate/SUAS the end goal is what is driving me, just the thought of those Zyzz like Indian fellas winning increases my rage meter and pushes me even harder....

Fish fats should be zeroed out.

Why? Does the laughing face mean you're jaking?

Can't really think of any situation except in the case of allergy where I'd recommend that fish fats should be zeroed out. Yes there are alternatives and you can do fine without, but fish oil is one of, if not the, best option IMO. Cheap, comes in precisely metered doses and high in EFA and fat soluble vitamins.

Add in some eggs or macadamias brah. Fats are important for healthy hormone function.

Avoid adding salt to your food, it may just be me, I find it stimulates my appetite like a motherfucker.

Instead of taking fish oil caps, have a fatty fish instead as it'll help fill you up. Fish oil caps, in my opinion, are phucking shit calories on a diet cause it adds to your caloric intake with out adding anything in to your stomach. Not saying they don't serve a purpose and are great for you heavy guys that don't have a big issue with getting low cal but guys like me and CF are better off with something solid
