Tried front squats last night with 90kgs. I got up to 12 reps and on the 13th, I leant too far forward and slipped off my shoulders lol. Its bloody hard on the upper back. I reckon my legs couldve got me to 20 but my wrists and shoulders were too weak. Ill try again next week :)

Got motivated to try some high rep stuff, not under comp rules or anything, wanted to shock my legs not having squatted a whole bunch lately.

My best ever high rep set for full depth squats was 180x15 @ 100kg about 10 years ago!

I managed 185kg x 22 reps on a med/high box last night - touch n goes to about 15 then started sitting back onto box. Job done, legs massacred. :pfft:

Was fun, encourage others to have a go, if for nothing else but to develop mental toughness!

Yeah back squats bro - I'd be lucky to do 100x20 on fronts.

Filmed them but haven't put on youtube or anything yet, not really impressive being just partial squats.

Ok here is me doing 1x20 of 152kg. As I said, depth isn't what it could be, but I do still feel this in my glutes and hams

On each side there is three 20kg plates (grey one is different brand), one 10kg plate, and one 2.5kg plate, and the bar weighs 7kg.

Understatement of the year :pfft: Hope yours wasnt this high Nate! :?

Seriously Greemah, if you were going to parallel or deeper, I doubt you could even do one rep with 150kgs

Please prove me wrong

Haha I told you depth wasn't that great! I do it to work the quads though, and I feel like if I started going lower and couldn't get out of the hole due to ham/glute strength then my quad workout would suffer as they could handle the weight

Seriously Greemah, if you were going to parallel or deeper, I doubt you could even do one rep with 150kgs

Do you seriously think the difference in depth from that to parallel is so significant you don't think I could get 1 rep at 150kg going to parallel?

Because your quads won't grow if you went parallel

That's not what I'm meaning, I meant my quads won't get worked as hard if I start going lower since there would be less weight

But the range of motion would be increased, and the time the muscle is under load will also be increased potentially recruiting more muscle fibers than using a higher weight and less ROM.

Well thats what I have always thought anyway.

But at the end of the day if your leg measurement is on the rise and thats your goal, then it must be ok.
