20 rep front squat competition (Original post edited)

Recommended Posts

Greetings fellow aesthetic godlings

Would anyone be keen to do a 20 rep squat competition?

Could make a few divisions like under 80kgs, 80-100kgs, over 100kgs and ladies. I just cbf atm so I need some motivation to go hard in the gym. Deadline could be the end of July?

Could be either front squat or back squat, with belt only (no knee wraps).

Anyone keen?

Edit

Official comp is gonna be one set of front squats for a minimum of 20 repetitions.

Rules are:

NO EQUIPMENT!! No, not even a belt. Just RAW

EVERY rep MUST break parallel

Knees must be locked out at the end of each rep

Video evidence must be linked in this thread and a pic of the scale showing bodyweight

Ties will be decided by lower bodyweight, extra reps after 20 dont matter

There will be no divisions, leaderboard will be ranked on the following formula: weight lifted in kgs/BW in kgs. Higher is better

Deadline is midnight 26 Aug 2012

I will create leaderboard on this post when the first submission is posted.

1. tomleegolf

70kgs @ 70.6kgs bodyweight

Bw ratio: 0.99

I'm failry confident running 5kms would be easier than squatting for 20 reps TLG :pfft:

But as TFB said most PL's (that still lift) are in Nats mode bro so prob some bb would take it out easy anyways you don't need motivation to Squat your a machine mate just SUAS.

The one and only time I attemped a 20 rep squat, was in maybe 2007... I had been olympic lifting and my cardio was NOT good. I decided to take a crack at doing 185kg/407lbs on the anniversary of Jesse Marunde's death, He loved doing 20 reppers, and had done 185 as his best. Needless to say, about the 19th rep I blacked out, mostly due to lack of fitness :P

Wish I'd had a crack when my squat was at it's strongest this year. Best 20 repper I've heard of is 250k... pretty crazy.

A 170kg top level highland games guy.

I know of a couple of world class strongmen doing 250 for 16 and 260 for 15. My bests were 227.5 for 12 (2010) and 272.5 (2012) for 8... all using training wraps though. Could probably have done 227.5 for 15-16earlier this year, but wouldn't know. Over 12 reps with any weight fatique is a huge issue for non-bodybuilders.

... I seem to remember this one. I think I had just turned 50 and responded to a bet from NZMM. Looking at some of the other guys efforts though makes this look a bit pitiful. There might have to be the 50-60 year olds class !!!

Managed a 25 last year before tearing my quad a few weeks later at the "house". Might be something to aim for again as a way of getting back into it.
