I still trained a lot when I broke my 3rd metacarpal in my left hand.

Chest, shoulders and Back I did by attaching those ankle velcro cuffs to my elbows and would do flies, single arm cable rows/pulldowns etc

arms was a bit more of a mission, for biceps I would use a lying hamstring curl and have the pad on my forearms. Occasionally I would use the leg extension to do a kind of concentration curl movement for single arm work.

Triceps I used seated hamstring machine and would just load them with a short range of movement and later on I was able to attached the ankle velcrow to my forearm and do mini pushdowns.

I didn't lose much size in my upper body except in my forearms my legs grew considerably from hitting them twice a week. Diet was the most important thing as usual.

I'm not sure if there was any detriment to my healing, the first 3 weeks I didn't do anything ( I was away in Thailand anyway), then I started easing in to 20-25 rep stuff and long time under tension type training building up to 10-12 rep. If I felt any pain or was tensing a bit much I would stop.
