every session to max failure or no?

I was chatting to some one the other day and he said he has one week of hard training then one week of light training then one week of hard again and so on..

i thought this was weird.. Every time I go to the gym I push to failure on every exercise every time.. I have never heard of having lighter training weeks.. Have I been training wrong all this time? I am injury prone.. Maybe by training to failure every session I train I have contributed to my injuries over the years..

any thoughts please?

not sure about everyone else here, and this might be bro science, but I think giving yourself a deload week every 4-8 weeks might benefit your CNS after all the stress you put on it? doinh something like a 5/3/1 program I think it's the 4th week of each "cycle" that you deload? but not sure why you want to do it week on/week off

Slaughtering yourself in the gym day in and day out for extended periods of time is probably the reason you are "Injury Prone"

While hard work is the precursor to any and all significant training related results it also must be coupled with a sound recovery system.

As you know results occur during recovery which occurs at home under the covers and not in the gym under the bar.Undergoing training which is pushing your body to its limits can be very taxing on the CNS and as such using recovery methods such as deload weeks are pretty critical to longevity in your training life.

However going as far as having one deload week after every working week seems a bit like taking two steps forward one step back.Dorian Yates trained using high intensity principals in a nutshell only performing one working set to failure on each exercise every workout after six weeks of this he would have a deload/Rest week to let his body recover.

So to answer your question, No your training has not been wrong all this time and No you don't need to go one for one work to rest.

Thanks for the info mate...

so can be as simple as having an easy week training after a months training or so.. Easy enough and will be added to my training..

I appreciate the reply.. most helpful..
