The evolution of NZBB

Luckily there isn't a Gymrat drinking game where you drink every time Gymrat says cricket, you'd get wasted in the first round.

If you want heaps of new members add an 'aesthetics' section (dead srs) it would result in the bans of all the frequent trolls such as myself and you could sell more diverse advertising such as Sellers of hair straighteners, ear rings, satchels, nail files and scoop neck t shirts.

can we have a forum for organised fights between nzbb members? i feel the forum needs this feature so forum arguments/feuds can be resolved properly. im always pm'ing people whose opinions i disagree with challenging them to fights but no one responds. a forum where you can call people out openly and challenge them to a fight over their views is needed IMO

Yes cricket is a sport and I happen to love cricket that would also include any type of cricket like the one day cricket, test cricket and 20/20 cricket

which other types of cricket do you like gymrat ?

also this would make you a lot of money pseudo. you know those young faggy lookin kids like to spend there money on stupid shit that glitters.

It would awesome if you could tag users in posts to get the appropriate people seeing posts they can advise on.

this ^ works well on other forums. Also i want to see who keeps negging me so i can spam then with subscriptions to porn sites.

Good comments guys. Keep 'em coming.

The sick bay is already there so maybe just bringing it out of hiding and making it its own proper forum instread of a subforum?

Yeah, that's a good point. I'm aware it gets lost where it is.

wow it was horrible way back then!

Agree with all of your observations Pseudo, will you consider an HRT sub-forum under the Steroids section?

I thought it was quite snazzy at the time.

Check out the Members page on the archived snapshot, and you'll see that Growth, Marcus, and Jono were members way back then. Does that make them feel old? I hope so! They're like NZBB's living fossils. :pfft:

HRT subforum... we could do that. Do you think there's enough interest to warrant it?

a misc, opt in only.

Hey, that's genius. We could call it something cool too, like "The Playground". :D

Yeah a crossfit forum! Although it would just be me and myself in there for awhile wouldn't it :pfft:

I've noticed that one of our old mods is getting into crossfit. I wonder if the prospect of a dedicated forum can entice Poos_n_wees back.

It would awesome if you could tag users in posts to get the appropriate people seeing posts they can advise on.

Hmm. In addition to adding a few extra forums, I'm also planning a major revamp of, well, pretty much everything - branding, layout, software - the works. I think the new software may have more advanced member features, so this could be a possibility. I'll keep it in mind.

If you want heaps of new members add an 'aesthetics' section (dead srs)

Funny you should say that... I nearly included them in my list, but I thought that might cause a riot. Besides, you'd be happy to share the "Bodybuilding training" forum with them, wouldn't you?!

/runs

Actually, joking aside, I think there is a place here for people who just want to look ripped for the beach. The question is, how do we set it up so these guys can co-exist with die-hard bodybuilders? Would they need their own forum, or does that just stop everyone from sharing ideas?

I don't really want this topic to turn into another discussion on the pros and cons of aesthetic training - I'm talking about a broader group than just the Facebook aesthetic crew anyway. But think of them as unconverted bodybuilders who simply haven't seen the light yet. This is your chance to go save the heathens!

 As well as redesigning the main site, the plan is to introduce a proper phone-friendly skin too. Just as soon as we find a sponsor. So if anyone is interested in a 12-month sponsorship contract with some very attractive advertising opportunities, let me know!

Exellent idea Pseudonym. I think when people are exposed to other athelets and the way they train it can help them to more deeply consider thier own training, and the way its structured. With the influx of powerlifters to this site alot of bodybuilders on here have realised the benefit of cycling ones training intesity and volume for long term gains.

Not sure if it would contravene advertising contracts,

But a market forum would be nice. Could generate some revenue if you make people buy an upgraded account status before they could post. Just for like selling old weights / protein powder (unopened of course) that you have bought and no longer have use for.

Basically like a miniature trade me, without the restrictions on posting personal information / making offers to circumvent the trade me commission scheme.

Wow, hard to believe it’s been 3 months since I started this topic! The good news is, I think I’ve got a much clearer idea of where the forum is headed now, and it’s great to see you all support growing into a wider community.

However, with powerlifters, crossfitters, MMA’ers and everyone else, this wider community no longer relates to NZBodybuilding.co.nz. It’s time for us to rebrand with a focus that unites everyone, wherever they fit into the gym community. NZBodybuilding.co.nz will become Gymnation.co.nz.

Gymnation neatly wraps up who we are, and what we all have in common. It works for novice to expert, casual to hardcore competitors.

So, moving forward, there are four main projects I want to roll out:

1) The Gymnation transformation

2) My Workouts – like your existing workout journals, only more powerful

3) Gymnation mobile – the phone-friendly version

4) Diet planner/tracker – this one’s probably a fair way off, but it’s on the list

I’ll get your feedback on all these features eventually, but for now let’s focus on the transformation project. Here’s a forum/feature map. This is based partly on your comments above, and partly on setting up a structure that we can build the subsequent projects on.

I’m trying to balance having an integrated community, where there’s a lot of cross-sport discussion, with still giving groups their own space. It’s looking good, but I’ve still got a few questions about bits of it – let me know what you guys think:

- Does it make sense to have separate competition subforums in each training forum? That could mean bodybuilders don’t see powerlifting event discussions – is that a problem? Would it be better to pile them all into one big forum?

- We’ve got a LOT of top-level forums now. Not sure how this will work on the front page. We could “zip up” the training forums section so it only shows two forums of your choice (and “click here to unzip”), but that would kill our cross-sport discussion.

- The AAS Cycle Logs forum has never really got much love in its current form. Should we ditch it entirely, leave it as a subforum of the Steroids section, or include it as a tag that you can attach to a workout journal?

Finally, to our bodybuilders... We still love you. We’re not abandoning you. We’re just welcoming a few new members to our gym family. And when they arrive, we promise we’ll love all our iron-pumping children equally.

Good work on the new direction I think it will bring in a wider group of people, for better or for worse haha. just don't get to pc about it and remove the Playground or aas forums!

Also maybe a discussion with the pros section? Or maybe not enough pro fitness models and bodybuilders in nz?

HRT is a must.. One only has to look at other forums to see how much of an important part of them it is.

And maybe, Boxing, MMA, BJJ, Judo, Kickboxing, Muay Thai etc, under the umbrella of a Martial Arts heading would be real cool too! :-)
