Strength and Power at CrossFit Lifting Comp

Recommended Posts

A friend of mine was competing at a three-lift comp run by her local CrossFit Box in Petone at the weekend, so I went along to cheer... great form, great strength in the comp.

Format was Squat, Bench, and Clean to overhead. Most chose to power-clean it, although a few chose squat-to-clean.

Competitors also had a four-way AMRAP strongwoman comp - stone lift, tyre flip, KB farmers' walk and prowler, as many reps in sixty seconds.

The comp was well run - two racks going at once, DJ providing some motivating beats, and even vouchers for complimentary coffees from Celsius, the great cafe up the street.

Big field - competitors from Hawkes' Bay and others from out of town too!. Quite inspiring to watch.

In most of the pictures, the fat black ones are 20s, thin black ones are 10s, thin purples are 5s (I think), and silvers are 2.5s - bar's a 20.

So, the squat in picture two is 102.5kg, giving the proof to the slogan on the t-shirt, which says of Netfit "We don't use machines, we build them"....

I think the bar in the other rack (with the pink plates) might have been a 15kg, I'd need to check.

Vee came with me for the ride, she might remember.
