That shit aint natty.

Artificial sweetners have a terrible after taste. And I found gave a chronic dry mouth.

If you are cutting, why not water? Keep the chemicals out?

Conspiracy? maybe, but that stuff is worse than sugar and diabetes. Anyways, I would drink straight coke before diet, and that's saying something.

It's fine in normal doses and there is no substantial pool of evidence to show the sweeteners used today are dangerous at all. In fact systematic reviews of the literature have shown they aren't. It is not "worse than sugar and diabetes" in any way.

Sure you may not like the taste but the dry mouth is probably due to the acidity of the carbonated water and maybe the caffeine.

Anway, I often buy soda water (or diet tonic) and mix it with fresh citrus and some ice. Soda water has no additives at all and is very refreshing with lime and ice. I chuck some vodka or Bacardi in now and then too :)

If the worst thing you consume while cutting is Phenylaline or Aspartme then you're doing pretty good. There are a few journals that 'link' them to cancer. Sugar has been proven to cause cancer.

Go ahead and enjoy a coke zero every now and again. If you're competing drop them out in the last couple of weeks.

The sugar lobby is extremely powerful , even taking on the WHO several times trying to stem the tide of sweetners, beleive what u want, i beleive sweetners are safer than the sugar option.I have bits of both in moderation.Plus they are in whey protein so cant really avoid them.

I been watching the Dr OZ show (my wife tapes it on mysky) :shifty: and that dude is always baging artificial sweetners and the bodies inability to process the stuff. Tastes alright with some Jack Daniels though :pfft:

Let's be honest here. Although it's not 0 calories per-say, whatever calories it does contain, is trace amounts, meaning f*ck all.

It's not like you're going to put on half a kg the next day because of one coke zero.

I had them in my diet last year, I got shredded (although ended up filling out in the last week because of ridiculous exercise I was forced to do). If you're dieting properly, then it's not gonna affect you. If you find yourself blaming all the coke zeroes during your diet, then you're an idiot and need to diet harder.

And none of those are toxic lol

Some good responses/thoughts. Water wins every battle, I agree. I had 2 cans last week, just the small can. My weight dropped 1kg so that's fine. I use the mirror to track my progress and do this every 7 days, on the same day, same time in the morning. So it seems anyway that's it's ok for me to have it in so I'll keep it there. As I get down in weight more, I'll most likely cut it right out.

I'm also a leangains advocate and swear by it!! f*ck yeah...see, told you.

Phosphoric acid is used primarily in the manufacture of fertilizers, detergents, and pharmaceuticals. In the steel industry, it is used to clean and rust-proof the product. It is also used as a flavoring agent in carbonated beverages (read the ingredients list on a can of Coca-Cola), beer, jams, jellies and cheeses. In foods, phosphoric acid provides a tart, acidic flavor.

A recent study reported in the journal Epidemiology (Vol 18, pp 501–506, July 2007), found that drinking two or more cola beverages per day doubled the risk of chronic kidney disease. Cola beverages have been associated with kidney changes that promote kidney stones, which may be a result of the phosphoric acid in colas.

Non-toxic, but not health beneficial.

It all comes down to consumption, and common sense (surprisingly not so common).

It's only 1 calorie or whatever so won't affect body composition one bit, so provided your not having 10 cans a day it will be fine for you. If you're going overboard though who knows, the chemicals in it etc might end up affecting you negatively

I put it like this...if I am losing weight (fat weight) week to week whilst having 2 cans in that week. I'm doing ok. All the while, I weight training 5 days a week and cardio maybe twice a week. I feel strong in my workouts, I run freely, fast and explosive. That tells me im doing fine, body is good. My water intake is very high every day and I eat clean, good food Mon through to Sat. Sunday I plan a cheat meal. I guess its more to do with the guilt. Most of us are strict as phuck when it comes to cutting, 99% of the time. That 1% to cheat is normally planned on a specific day. thats how I cut anyway. I don't randomly eat cheat foods or meals so when I decide to grab a can of coke zero, it will be randomly so therein lies the decision and thoughts on is coke zero gonna ruin my plans. I guess I kinda answered my own question however, the topic was worth discussing since we got to share each others thoughts on it. choice one bros.
