Test booster such as DAA vs Pre workout supp.Thoughts?

Hey all.Me again.

22yr male been training hard and hitting macros consistently since late last year and have seen what I feel are pretty good results(check out my progress pics on here if ya like). However, last 8weeks, my weight has ceased to increase, and my strength gains have been minimal.Suppose this is the plateau people speak of with new trainers.

Girlfriend has offered to shout me a supp and after a wee bit of research I am considering buying a test booster such as DAA.Would this be my best option for strength and size gains(in terms of supplementation guys) or is there a killer pre workout supp that I should invest in instead?Cheers in advance

Tried creatine yet mate?

Yeah bro.Finished a cycle of mono about a month ago.It was mean in terms of instantaneous gains across the board. However, by the 6th week my weight stopped climbing and my lifts took a decline.Post creatine I have lost 70% of the weight I gained and am squatting 40kg less than I was while 4 weeks into the creatine. Is this normal??

You shouldn't loose that much weight or strength, the weight wouldnt be all muscle anyway so thats not a big issue, focus on how much performance you retain after the cycle of creatine.

My experience with creatine has never been a "strength/power" boosting one, I've only ever found I have that extra endurance for those last few reps per set, but strength is generally there. Never got that explosive power increase straight of the bat and never found that it magically increases my ability to shift more load. My description of creatine is that it mainly promotes sustained max performance.

Id vote caffiene to increase power/strength!

If you havent tried a stim based pre-workout and experienced how it works for you may as well try it, Id back Psuedo and say youve got heaps of natural testosterone being young. So DAA can wait, try a stim to boost the energy, hopefully ability to handle more load and stimulate some more growth!

My 2c

Hah, yeah, I think most of the strenth gains and losses are in your head! You certainly shouldn't suddenly drop 40kg on your squats when you go off it. Use the creatine to boost your strength by all means, but then tell yourself you can still push the same weight without it - and make sure you do! :D

  • 5 weeks later...

I am about to start a course of DAA with Erase. I'm going to get my Test levels read before I start, and again after two weeks on this stack so we will see if it works. I'm 36 and work out 5x days per week for the past year. Let me know if you are interested to see results etc.

I read that if you take DAA works by increasing something called steroidogenic acute regulatory (StAR) protein, which is a critical enzyme in the production of testosterone. It is found in the testes and is a rate limiting step in the creation of testosterone. Increasing the activity of StAR is one of the main ways that DAA helps the body make more testosterone and it was shown in human studies that D-Aspartic Acid can give roughly a 30% increase in testosterone production! This is amazing for a completely natural product, but that boost in testosterone has one downside that may actually be making your situation worse! The good news is that if reversed, it could actually make the conversion to testosterone even higher and could boost your testosterone levels above 30%!

Aromatase is a nasty enzyme that is responsible for converting testosterone to estrogen in the body. It is what robs the bodybuilder of the robust effects of testosterone and changes the balance of your hormones. As we age, we produce even more aromatase and that is often why you see men getting fat, soft and flabby as they get older. Aromatase and it's end product estrogen are the enemy of any man wanting to keep that rock hard physique and feel his best! Unfortunately it seems that the "holy grail" of supplements D-Aspartic Acid may actually cause the body to produce more aromatase, which is something you definitely don't want! Making all of that extra testosterone isn't going to do you much good if a large part of it converts to estrogen in the body, so you want to stop that from happening! It has been shown in the literature that D-Aspartic Acid can increase testicular aromatase levels, making your testosterone to estrogen ratio sub par which can certainly be an issue for the bodybuilder. Luckily, you can add in some very potent aromatase inhibitors that will stop the conversion of testosterone to estrogen by binding and locking up aromatase! You will want to use a combination of a competitive inhibitor of aromatase and a suicide inhibitor of aromatase to maximize the benefits of D-Aspartic Acid!

Good stuff bro,solid physique.

I wouldn't bother with DAA, its good for libido etc, but you won't notice any crazy muscle gains from it. Have you used creatine yet? Again nothing magical but it will do more than DAA supplementation.
