which peanut butter?

On that note, why does everyone seem to suggest 'natural' peanut butter. Most other peanut butters are listed as 98% or so peanuts and maybe some oil or sugar making up the other 2%. Why pay so much extra for a product that (imo) tastes worse and can't really be that much different nutritionally? (Am I wrong here?)

was thinking along the same lines, the prices of the naturals are high especially for how quickly it goes!

I think it's because some peanut butters (more common overseas than here) have oils added to them to improve texture and to prevent the liquid oild separating from the solid ones which doesn't look good on the shelf but doesn't actually mean shit. They will also have preservatives and other additives too. Natural peanut butter is just ground peanuts with out any oils or other additives.

As long as the PB you buy just has peanuts (and salt) then you're good. I always get the one with salt added as unsalted doesn't taste nearly as good. Also keep an eye out for the ones with added sugar. It's not much sugar but it makes it taste like shit IMO. It's just done to make it more palatble to kids.

TBH I couldn't really give a shit if my PB was 98% peanuts and 2% sunflower oil.... Overseas they may add some kind of hydrogenated transfat-containing filth but I've yet to see that here.

Don't worry about it

I pick the one with lowest sugar first and then sodium second. From memory the Countdown house brand was one I used regularly with my previous keto diets.

what about the no sugar no salt ones made by sanitarium? that's what I normally buy...takes a while to get used to the taste but after that it's all good....until you try some normal peanut butter , then the cycle continues
