Green Tea - Fat loss ?

yeah green tea works mate, also helps you shit more (srs) ...getting the pills are all good but for some reason I prefer the actual tea too...if you can find some asian place you can get a big bag from them for shit all, what's good about it is it doesn't take much to make some tea and when you're done you can pour some hot/boiling water over the leaves and drink it again...I sometimes do that 3 times a day, as does my BFF Dave and he's been losing fat pretty well .

May the light shine forever

Im taking the bb.com brand green tea extract at the moment. Good price for sure. It stacks really well with EC which, apart from the antioxidant properties, is the main reason I take it. It has been proven to increase thermogenesis and fat oxidation to a greater degree than its caffeine content would explain (see below study)

Good write up in this link

Study:

Am J Clin Nutr. 1999 Dec;70(6):1040-5.

Efficacy of a green tea extract rich in catechin polyphenols and caffeine in increasing 24-h energy expenditure and fat oxidation in humans.

Dulloo AG, Duret C, Rohrer D, Girardier L, Mensi N, Fathi M, Chantre P, Vandermander J. Department of Physiology, Faculty of Medicine, University of Geneva.

BACKGROUND:

Current interest in the role of functional foods in weight control has focused on plant ingredients capable of interfering with the sympathoadrenal system.

OBJECTIVE:

We investigated whether a green tea extract, by virtue of its high content of caffeine and catechin polyphenols, could increase 24-h energy expenditure (EE) and fat oxidation in humans.

DESIGN:

Twenty-four-hour EE, the respiratory quotient (RQ), and the urinary excretion of nitrogen and catecholamines were measured in a respiratory chamber in 10 healthy men. On 3 separate occasions, subjects were randomly assigned among 3 treatments: green tea extract (50 mg caffeine and 90 mg epigallocatechin gallate), caffeine (50 mg), and placebo, which they ingested at breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

RESULTS:

Relative to placebo, treatment with the green tea extract resulted in a significant increase in 24-h EE (4%; P < 0.01) and a significant decrease in 24-h RQ (from 0.88 to 0.85; P < 0.001) without any change in urinary nitrogen. Twenty-four-hour urinary norepinephrine excretion was higher during treatment with the green tea extract than with the placebo (40%, P < 0.05). Treatment with caffeine in amounts equivalent to those found in the green tea extract had no effect on EE and RQ nor on urinary nitrogen or catecholamines.

CONCLUSIONS:

Green tea has thermogenic properties and promotes fat oxidation beyond that explained by its caffeine content per se. The green tea extract may play a role in the control of body composition via sympathetic activation of thermogenesis, fat oxidation, or both.

Just drink the tea cheaper than pills. Get a box of 100 bags for like $3

Happy tea bagging :pfft:

I do both. And it's not that much cheaper when you can get 100 caps of extract for $7.50 and each cap has equivalent amounts of polyphenols to that of several tea bags.

Still, cheap either way

Its just im not a fan of hot drinks.

Yup as long as you dont let it sit around too long.

Spoonful of honey goes in it well

Try the Korean stuff out it comes in powdered form.

+ 1

Although Japanese Matcha is the only powdered form I know of sounds like Korean does it as well, it's many times more potent becos u r consuming the actual leaves not just the water like with Chinese green tea.

Look up Matcha Tea, incredible statistics

It sometimes pops up on trademe, otherwise it should be quite cheap, between 10 and 20 dollars. Be careful with some cheaper powdered teas as they are not stone ground. When I lived in Korea I used to buy the organic Jeju stone ground stuff for about $8 nzd, Same quality, but way cheaper than the Japanese stuff, less demand and establish brand ect. Worked really well for a cut.
