Man what a great initiative Damo

Wish I had something like this when I first started out :(

If you are up in the air about putting your name forward, don't hesitate. You've got nothing to lose.

All the best with this Damo

An awesome opportunity for two fledgling lifters  Big ups to Damo and the CBC crew for sure. Powerlifting in NZ is lucky to have people like you around

Damo and CBC have played a massive role in igniting my passion for powerlifting and strength training in general. To everyone even considering applying, just do it! An opportunity like this will be unlikely to present itself again. With the knowledge and atmosphere within CBC, progress is inevitable 8)

Thanks for your kind comments fellas and yeah its a good opp for a couple of young lifters to get involved for no cost.

No equiptment purchases?

Are you gonna buy the equiptment for them or they gonna use some of the clubs? (if the club has any)

if gonna buy it for them that's pretty mint deal!

Very cool

Cheers Tom. We wouldn't think of putting a novice lifter into gear (suits/shirts) unless they had plenty of raw strength and had some experience anyway and we do have gear for this but I was more on about belt, wraps etc when they are ready. We have this available already.

This is a walk in and get amongst it offer. What they do after comp time is up to them but we tend to keep powerlifters as they develop....probably because we are developing too and it being a wanker free zone

Great incentive Steak good to see. If this (and it should) picks up some traction would you look at doing it annually or stick with the 2 and see them through to Nats etc?

Shit had I been 3 years younger

Cheers man...it will depend on the lifters themselve but I dont see why not. We have already paid for all our lifters comp fees this year all the way through to and including North Islands...about $1000 worth of entry fees so far this year! and the NZPF dont like me

The 2 youth scholarship program will run till this year ends and then we'd like to up it to 4 athletes next year all going well and grow it from there. It would great to have a sponsor take on the whole project and Im working with some people for this.

The arrival of CAPO may boost funding and sponsorship options by allowing branding on the platform and in association with competitions too but we will see how that pans out. My gut feeling is that the CBC Youth Scholarship Program will be a hit and get great support though.
