Help with nabba-wff classes please..

Recommended Posts

I'm trying to figure out a show to compete in, and a fed to pick.

But I'm looking for explanations on the various classes in nabba wff.. The site tells you the classes but doesn't really say what they are looking for?

Miss Athletic Class is the one I want an explanation on - is it figure/physique/both/none something else entirely. And what does it consist of? (do I need to be able to do backflips and stuff) or do I need to get cracking in the weights room and start building way more muscle.

How Is it different from the likes of nabba with shape/figure/physique?

AND I'm assuming the glamour model one is the equivalent to the bikini class in nzifbb?

TIA :)

Best is to look up on youtube past videos of the classes and it should give you an idea of how much body fat and muscle each class has. or on muscleimaging.com

There are two figure classes in NABBA/WFF, the WFF figure and the NABBA figure. The WFF athletic class is like the NABBA figure but with less muscle and the WFF figure has less muscle than the NABBA figure two but is less lean than both of them....

In ms athletic if you are over a certain height you have to be under a certain weight. I'm 172cm (tall) so I'd have to be under 57kgs to compete in that class whereas if I was competing in the NABBA figure I'd only have to get under 64kg... I think the short class for athletic is under 50kg.

This is the 2011 ms athletic winner, she is VERY lean and went on to win 2nd in worlds. I guess that means that is what the federation as a whole is looking for. Smaller and more ripped:

This is the wff australia figure winner (less lean than Athletic but still has a small amount of muscle mass)

This isnt from the NABBA/WFF figure but it is a nabba figure category. So these are ripped too like ms athletic but more muscle and leaner than the WFF figure...

Its difficult because its a new federation so its hard to see who competed in the past in NZ and who has done well. I also think sometimes that looking at the classes can be slightly unrepresentative as there are many who compete who may not be exactly what they are looking for. But this has been my understanding of it :)

So I guess just get as lean as you possibly can. IMO if you think you can make it under the 50kg or 57kg depending on your height then go for it for the ms athletic class. Especailly if you think you can come in leaner as that seems to be what they are looking for in ms athletic. If you think you have LESS muscle but CANT get that lean then maybe go for WFF figure. If you think you got the muscle there and CAN get lean then go for NABBA figure class.

Personally I'm going to compete in NABBA figure in the straight NABBA show and then if I can get under 57kg I'll be doing the ms athletic at nabba/wff. So its more a question of weight and leanness and how you look visually.

Thankyou Dinahlady!

I had decided on nabba shape to start with, but I'll look more into nabba wff with the under 57kg class too. haven't watched the vids yet but will do once I've sent the kiddo to bed

I'll probably be messaging you for advice over the next few weeks too  you seem pretty onto it from reading your journal!

Thanks :) would be awesome to hear from you.

Nabba shape is between kinda figure and bikini I guess. basically figure but not as lean as nabba figure and can have less muscle too.

Have a look at Jess coate athlete on facebook, she's also linked to NZ aesthetics. I think she's really what they are looking for as an ideal in the category

I think in shape you also have to have some kinda little dancey routine or something though? With like a costume and prop but not quite as fitnessy as the fitness class routine?

good luck!
