Can someone explain to me why the only way to see these pros is by "VIP" invite only and it would seem that the same people get the vip invites from their mates that work at the shop.

There are plenty of people that would pay for tickets to see the pros. But it seems to get limited to only those who spend money with the selected nutrition shops.

A couple of years ago when Flex came to NZ it was a simple process of purchasing a ticket and going along. None of this "We will announce on the day stuff". Apparently it is open to nutrition shops all across NZ but how will people out of Auckland ever get a chance.

The whole way of doing it like this isn't conducive to getting people interested in the sport.

I can see why its being done this way and its got nothing to do with helping the NZ bodybuilding community further themselves or the NZ profile in world bodybuilding, its all about the $$ for the Nutrition shops.

I actually don't know, but it would seem that maybe the nutrition shops are the people putting the money together to bring athletes? If my hunch is right, it'll explain why they get first dibs?

Good points raised.

Store visits are entirely free so please make all endeavours to get along. Your day job will always be there, Flex was last here 2 years ago so it may be another 2 years until you see him again.

As for the evening seminar, seats are limited so wrapping it around a campaign or prizedraw is the mechanic we have chosen to use to date. We are open to suggestions.

Some costs are obvious and other not so much, but you should see the food bill these pros rack up on tour!

I am aware that the store visits are free. But the seminar is the experience that you want to be a part of, not feel like a groupie with a hundred other people. U don't get to hear about their training or eating while u r packed into a tiny nutrition store.

If you think a few people spending $150 is gonna cover the costs of bringing these guys down here, u must be kidding. Even this doesn't guarantee you a ticket to the seminar, so you have helped bring him down, but never ever get to hear his opinions and experiences. Wouldn't it make more sense to charge everybody for tickets and fill a decent sized venue, instead of a tiny conference room at the Bruce Mason like u had for Phil Heath.

Can we assume this is going to be the same format when Ronnie Coleman is here. All you are doing is souring the experience for so many people that want to go along to the seminars, but don't want to unnecessarily fork out hundreds of dollars for supplements to help line the pockets of the Nutrition shops. Would personally rather spend that money for some sort of guarantee of seeing the athlete.

  • 2 weeks later...

Flex's arms are just SICK. They're so huge it just doesn't look real. I think pound for pound he's got the biggest arms in bodybuilding. Like actually looks out of proportion. Wonder what they measure!
