i am running a comp for nzbb.

most burpees in 90 seconds, followed by most chins to failure with a 60 second time limit on the chins.

must be filmed under the chin bar and be done straight after the other. your chin up 60 seconds starts when the 90th second clicks over on your burpees.

burpees - arms must be locked oput and legs fully extended straight on the push out and at the top of the movement both feet must leave ground and body must be upright (no hunched back jumps).

chins - any grip is acceptable however grip cannot be changed during the drill (the grip you start with you must finish with.) feet dont touch ground at any time if they do you have finished the exercise. no kipping or swinging. chin must come inline or above bar on each rep and arms fully extended/locked out at the bottom of each rep. the first rep you may jump or push yourself off the ground with your feet to get going.

totals will be added together who ever gets highest number wins.

im back on 19th May so cut off will be 19/04 at 2359. winner will be announced by me on the 20/04

prizes - winner takes all*.

1x 10lb super quad protein of your choice

5x muscle milk RTD protein shakes.

users must have 20+ posts as of today (18/04) to enter.

all of you should do it.

its 2.5mins of your time and more than youll win at any nz bodybuilding show.

ill run one of these comps every couple months... prizes will get better, has to be entries though to make it worth doing.

this place needs more competitions.

But you are right, it's a good idea to have more competition just for involvement. Maybe if it's something like percentage bw deads and shoulder press or something.. not heavy stuff but for higher reps you might get more interest.

Is a kipping pull up to pull ups what a cheat curl is to curls?

Serious question because I see a lot of guys and gals at the gym doing this sort of whole body swinging thing and calling it a chin up.

If you can't to them normally why bother kipping even for girls just seems stupid to me sounds like half squatting because full is too hard, imho not looking for a shit storm either.

I can't be fucked going into an argument about kipping, but it uses your hips to swing before you hoist yourself up. It's a gymnastic move, and you still have to go chin over bar etc bla bla aaaaaaaand it still recruits all the same muscles as a normal pullup, aaaaaand you can read many arguments just by googling kipping pullups aaaand I think it sets a good base to work on getting your dead hang pullup. Okok?

I wasn't going to argue about it just asking the question. I should have googled it I guess but I wanted someone who did them to tell me.

It's a good confidence building exercise by the looks of it and no doubt would assist in the process of enabling you do regular chin ups. Much the same as doing rhythmic style cheat curls would assist in your bicep development and lower back and traps at the same time.

I should say here that there are also butterfly kipping pullups which I hate, they look like people are having a skitzo attack on the bar. You go round and round and round - so I'm talking about a normal hip swing then lever self up and come back down :D

Would be so in for this. I don't think I've ever voluntarily done a burpee before :lol:

In any case, good on ya tom for putting something out there. More competitions is something we need to look into :nod:

What exactly do you mean by this?

Also can you please post a link to a vid of a burpee like you are expecting, I've seen a few different styles and I only wanna do this once so don't wanna get disqualified doing the wrong burpee lol
