scivation xtend flavour?

I think they have to be quite tangy to mask the taste of BCAA. I've only tried Lemon Lime Sour, which I really like but it is quite strong. I've never really heard a bad thing about their flavours, perhaps a bit strong for some but always drinkable.

they're pretty nice but I wasn't too much of a fan of water melon to be honest (smells fucking great though, the taste is good but too sweet for me) was best when I put it in a bottle the night before and left it in the fridge...was nice to have in the morning, and as SupendedTom said, in the summer it can make you want to drink more water so that's a bonus

I got plain bcaa powder , which is freaking wretched, i wish i had just bought some xtend. Slowly getting rid of it lol

I gave away 2 tubs of BCAA last year, cheap supplements brand (bb.com's brand) and LG science's one which was just as nasty.

ps. tell D I will be in tomorrow and I expect him to bring my thingo

As far as I'm aware 2:1:1 is the ratio with most studies to support it. Although leucine is the amino primarily responsible for protein synthesis, leucine when taken alone depletes isoleucine and valine.

2:1:1 is the ratio in animal proteins so it obviously works, but that's not to say other ratios won't, I just haven't seen any studies to suggest they're any better or worse. Value for money of course would just lead you to getting straight leucine, since that's what the really high ratios are heading towards anyway.

Now aside from all this, there is also the argument about whether they're much use at all when you're getting plenty from whey, meat etc. Some, like Dr Layne Norton (who did his PhD in protein metabolism) suggests they are, while others suggest that there will be no more beneficial effects over the BCAAs from a protein sufficient diet.

btw, if you want a 'cheap' BCAA in a 4:1:1 ratio, AI Sports RecoverPro is about US$40 before discounts on BB.com compared to some of the other brands like Xtend at around US$55. Seems to get some good feedback as far as BCAAs go.
