Vegan bodybuilding - WTF??

Recommended Posts

Bill Pearl was vegan... google him if you don't know who he is. He had a pretty decent physique

He did have an awesome physique, but he was a vegetarian not vegan - he still consumed dairy and eggs and quite a few of them too from what I have heard.

You cant use the exception to prove the rule. The handful of people that have done well not eating animal products to the mountains of people that have succeded eating good ol fashion meat.

And lets not forget in the wild things that eat grass get eaten

He also only became a vegetarian 2 years before retiring from competition, so almost his entire competitive career was when he was a meat eater. I think he only competed once or twice after he eliminated meat and replaced it with eggs and dairy.

Not to say it can't be done without meat, but since he didn't build his physique or win the majority of his titles as a vegetarian it may be a little inaccurate to consider Pearl a "vegetarian bodybuilder".

I wasn't really trying to make an example of Bill Pearl I was just mentioning him as a non meat eating bb. If I was trying to make a point about the ridiculousness of bagging vegans, I would have just googled a bunch of useless meat eating bbs and put them on here as the examples of meat eating uselessness. I'd have put one of my pics on there as one of the meat eating useless bbs.

Every eating plan and system can be made to work I guess was more what point I was trying to make. I guess I should have wikipidia'd him first.

...started reading about the 'Paleo' diet - um nothing new thats how we should eat anyways (just another way for peeps to make cash).

How can people make cash off it when it is freely available (and grandma can tell you)?

Sure, people try to sell it, but people buy bottled water too, and that falls out of the tap at home. Paleo eating just means we have to get off our arses and cook from scratch. Loving it. The way mum did it.
