How much protein is too much?

Was just reading an article about how protein is harder for the stomach to breakdown and large amounts can result in damaged kidneys. However, the article did not state how much is too much..

Can anyone give me a quantity to go by in order to be at peak usage and not too high to do damage? Thanks

always best to take everything in balance when it comes to your long term diet, as long as you do that i don't think most people will have to worry about such a thing as 'too much' protein.. just take what you need

too much in long term (perhaps a keto type diet) and you will be putting yourself up for all kinds of issues. probably first thing youll notice is some lack of control when it comes to bowel motions, you can add plenty of fiber to your diet to help with that.

also no surprise, your kidneys are working hard when you take more protein but you also have to make sure to be taking plenty of water to fight dehydration (more protein intake = body needs more water).. the effects of dehydration on already hard working kidneys will not end well.

how much exactly is too much? i don't think anyone has been able to quantify it, probably the kind of thing that is specific to each body. however, they have given us effective muscle building intake guidelines such as 1.5~2 grams of protein per lb of bodyweight
