Hey everyone!

I'm starting a diet now and want to know which carbs I should take for getting ripped. Should I take simple or complex? Also what times, I will also not be taking any supplements and doing intense exercises each day so please recommend what I can do to have have a energy to last me through out the day. Thank you

complex carbs all the way, regardless of whether you want to bulk or lose weight. the only time to really be putting simple carbs into you is on your post workout meal.

no supplements? no problem really, just make sure you know what your macro targets are and that you will be able to match them with your whole foods throughout the day.

don't know exactly what you have planned diet wise so hard to comment on what to do to keep yourself going throughout the day besides making sure that if you snack, snack on the better stuff like nuts rather than sweets & stay well hydrated throughout the day.

You can get energy from healthy fats too, not just carbs.

If you get low on energy, eat something. It doesn't have to be carb based. Last nights stirfry chicken and veges works a treat.

macros are just the proteins/carbs/fat contents of your food. So as long as these reach your targets, it doesnt really matter where they came from.

I usually eat low carb though, and feel fine. Get energy from fats.

actually, I am back on eating everything I see (to gain another 5kgs) so am eating anything now. Not really caring too much about being anal about it.

For conditioning I would only eat carbohydrates pre and post workout these carbohydrates being simple, to restore glycerogen. Through the rest of the day I would only have fibrous carbohydrates (from vegatables) I don't bother counting these carbohydrates. I'm currently deiting for a show and taking this approach. Low carbohydrates, moderate fat (mono and ploy unsaturated sources) and high protein. This way you let the diet do most of the work, and leave the cardio for the late weeks just before competition.
