What's my best option

Recommended Posts

ok, so I have a bit of overtime 2nd job coming up more now.

I am currently on a 3 day split, mon, wed, fri with full body everyday at variable reps between the days.

Problem is I have to do more shifts on my 2nd job and will not be able to do mondays anymore in the gym. Not sure for how long, but it might be a few months.

What is my best option:

1. Only do Wednesdays and Fridays?

2. Do Wednesday, Thursday, Friday.

I know none of these options are ideal and that I have to get rest in between, especially with a full body program every gym day.

Thanks HHH1.

I guess I should have explained the other problem. I am on a 20-30 week routine currently that has for instance:

- Week 1-3 (Full body with 3x15 rep ranges, three different full body routines for mon, wed, fri)

- Week 3-6 (Full body with 4x10 rep ranges, three different full body routines for mon, wed, fri)

- Week 6-9 (Full body with 5x5 rep ranges, three different full body routines for mon, wed, fri)

- Week 9-12 (Full body with monday=3x15, wed=5x5, fri=4x10 picking one of the three daily programs above - My current routine)

So even if it makes sense what you said, and I do realize the best option is to get in more, I do not want to mess with my routine now (Although I probably am already) and I simply don't have the luxury now between family and work to get in more than 2 days, unless I do them on Wed, thur, fri as said.

Not being an asshole to your advice and all, as I know that is the right way, but just a bit limited now.

Yea, I hear.

But even changing it to a 3 day non full body split, I would still only be able to do either wed/fri or wed/thu/fri. :(

(EDIT: Coming to think of it, would probably be best if changing then to a 3 day split that DOES NOT do whole body everyday and then I should still be able to do 3 days in a row as not the same muscle groups would be punished?)

OK, so I am starting my next three weeks monday. Note that the three weeks section after that is a decent three day split as below. How bout I just skip this full body section for now and then go over to the split below and do that Wed/ThuFri.

Bench Press (DB) with a superset of bentover DB rows 4x12

Cable Kneeling Crunch 4x12

Weighted Stability Ball Crunch 4x12

Workout B (Thu) –Lower Body

Barbell Deadlift 4x12

Squats with superset of hammy curls 4x12

Standing Calf Raise with superset of DB Shrugs 4x12

Seated Calf Raise with superset of close grip BB shrug 4x12

Workout C (Friday) – Upper Body Vertical Push and Vertical Pull

Wide Grip lat Pull downs with superset of Standing Military press 4x12

Underhand Pull downs with superset of DB Shoulder press 4x12

I work Sunday from about 7:00 to sometimes 17:00.

Saturdays I have to put aside for the family as I am never really home.

24 hour yes, but If I started work at 7:00 in the morning on a monday and Tuesday, and finish at 22:00 that night, there is no chance I would even think of going to put in some gym time. Aint gonna happen I'm afraid. That would indeed be wasting my time.

Know where you are coming from.

All comes down to priorities and i know where yours should be with a family!

Think you will find that there are many peeps like myself on here who have been there and done that.

Mostly sport etc gets given up, work life balance is a fantasy when raising a family unless you are blessed with wealth!

Best to reevaluate your BB goals, in short term at least.

dependant on your job and location perhaps try fitting in some cardio at lunch/ dinner breaks.

Do weights when you can....
