Vipers Intro

Hi,

Seeing as everyone I know in the gym is on this site, I thought it about time I got onto it too!!! Now known in the gym as Viper, my name is Rachelle & I got into Powerlifting back in Sept last year after going to a comp at Coast Barbell Club and watching my husband (Panzer) lift. It was awesome and I wanted to be a part of it, so got stuck in the week after!

So, when Steak first assessed me, my squat form wasnt the best, even though I'd been squatting in the gym for years!! - not powerlifting squats so i learned!! My bench, well, that was all new to me and the deadlift was pretty ugly!

I got the generous starting weights of;

90kg deadlift

60kg squat

40kg bench press

My body weight - well, I try to keep it to just under 63kg. I definately want to stay in the 63kg weight class in any comp I do.

I've trained 3 x week without fail and try to get in some assistance and agility when I can (not nearly enough though - still working on that one!).

After doing sheiko 29 & 37, we had our next comp in December (for xmas and end of year prizegiving) My new totals went up to;

90kg deadlift (a lot prettier than the first one!)

67.5kg squat

48kg bench

Then it was straight into more training and I just competed in my first Novice comp held at the beginning of March.

Now, using knee wraps and a belt for the squat, the new numbers;

105kg deadlift (still more in the old girl there)

80kg squat

48kg bench (failed on one attempt, so just 45kg at this comp)

So, now I am on a 4 week cycle building up to the Auckland Champs. I've just started training once a week with the squat suit, and have got depth at 102.5kg - the weight felt easy, but I still need to work on owning the suit.

So, from here the plan is to lift equipped for squat, raw for bench and deadlift. As long as my numbers total 250kg or more, I'll be happy for now(currently 233kg).

Well, that's my intro. I'm LOVING the sport and being a Master 1, I'm using this year as my skills year and see next year as being mine for getting my name out there with awesome totals!!!

That's me for now..... Training log starts from here :grin:
