Get ripped and keep strength for Rugby

Hey guys!

I have bulked up for Rugby now I want to get ripped! Can someone please tell me good food to eat, the time to eat it and how I can maintain strength for rugby while getting ripped.

peace

If you have "bulked for Rugby" why do you want to unbulk for Rugby? Not quite sure where your coming from. Are you satisfied with your muscle gain & now you want that muscle to be lean, is that what you mean? What position do you play?

Why do you need to be ripped when playing rugby?

Fat protects your body from impact

Exactly this ^. Good way to increase your injury rate by removing the fat that is helping to cushion your joints. Save the cut for summer mate.

lol how 'bulked' are you? and exactly how 'ripped' do you wanna be?

why exactly you would wanna lose the bulk after doing it specially for rugby (unless by bulk you mean you became a fatass?) is odd but never the less, there is an easy solution.

just keep in mind you will obviously lose some strength depending on how far you wanna go..

1) high protein diet

2) eat at caloric deficit (but not too far below)

3) keep up with training hard

i reckon it's definitely possible, hitting the tackle bags in trainings is another step up from HIIT in terms of how much it takes it out of you. as long as youre eating enough you should keep most of the muscle.

Hi Ctownuser. As FellowshipoftheRon says, it's a matter of keeping the protein up, and easing back on the carbs and fats a bit.

Keep an eye on the scales, and try to maintain your weight while losing bodyfat - ie, just go for a "recomposition" to get a leaner, harder look, rather than a full-on cut to get totally ripped. Then when rugby season is over, get shredded for summer. :D

What does you diet look like now?

4) lose your energy effeciancy on the pitch

5) be useless t your team 15-20min into the game

I can keep going.

i'm eating much better now.

Breakfast = cereal and 4 eggs

snack

Lunch = chicken/lamb sandwich

snack

Dinner = high protein meat, carrot, peas and potato.

1 cheat meal during the week :)

I want to look more like Sonny Bill Williams instead of Ma'a Nonu/Robbie Fruean

sounds like you're eating way too little now for a 94kgs person man.

sup HHH1. Give me a good idea of what I should eat to maintain strength but loose the fat so I'm looking more like Sonny Bill vs Ma'a Nonu. I don't wana loose my muscles jus wana loose the fat and look more like Sonny lol.

dunno man. a lot depends on how much energy you use due to excercise and stuff. to lose fat you pretty much dont want to be getting much more energy from your food than your using over the course of the day.

you gotta do some experimenting with the amounts and find whats right for you.

also make sure you get a decent amount of protein, at least 250g. and keep training hard.

try keep the amount of food youre eating daily pretty consistent. if youre not seeing results after a couple of weeks, eat less food. or if you feel weak and hungry as fuk u might have to increase the amount.

maybe start off at like 11000-14000kJ/day depending how active you think you are. adjust from there

Why do people get bulk confused with getting fat?

So u ate shit all through offseason and called it a bulk now u wanna loose the fat and call it a cut so you end up back where you started.

So you "bulked up" for rugby now u wanna "cut up" for rugby? f*ck this is confusing!

Just play rugby! Carbs for energy, protein for recovery... Looking good and playing rugby have nothing to do with each other!

It's like crossfitters preeching Paleo diets it's a waste of fucking time, look at the science and research behind what you have to do to what you want to achieve, it's black and white.
