Where can you find a list of past NZ national bodybuilding champions?(overall winners) Does it even exist? Would be cool to look back through the years to see whos held the title.

Reckon there should be an honours board somewhere to recognise their achievement.

Cheers for that really interesting looking at who has held the No 1 titles

Congrats to all the winners they deserve some recognition

about time this list was compiled id say

the next step (once complete) would be to add photos (don't ask for much I know) :pfft: but would be awesome to see how or if the physiques have changed over the years some awesome athletes in those lists for sure

remember seeing many of them holding up the trophy

Very interesting question cezare.

It's hard to say there has been a trend when you have an absolutely ripped to the bone 65kg Daniel Hibbs winning one year, a monstrous 110kg Darryn Onekawa winning the next then Hibbs again the next.

I would say (or hope) each contestant is taken on their own merits.

I understand that NABBA has never been a tested federation, but when did NZIFBB start and stop testing (whatever that really means  )

Moe won his Mr NZ title then failed his test right? Did that mean he was stripped of the title ?

If I remember correctly Darryl Tomuli won NZFBB one year and tested positive and had the title stripped..... Possibly the blank 2005....

Been a few guys fail the test, get their suspensions on the quiet and then come back and compete when the time was up.

Even if you Fail the test you still count as like winning as in they don't give the title to the runner up or something. So they technically might not of won because they failed the test... but then they still historically won... Basically pretty pointless.

Thats how its been explained to me anyway. Don't know if there is more to it than that.

I'm aware of at least 4 of the overall winners failing DT's after winning. I haven't counted this as they won the title regardless on the day. The DT was corrupt at best some years, and non-existent in others, while being administered well by DFS NZ in other years. So really to have one list of criteria I stuck with who walked away with the title on the night.

Sorry Floyd Landis..... :pfft:
