Drizzt you got a Powerhouse Crew?!

As mentioned on PH, I'd be keen as to have a crack at the title, but I'm in Tokyo on that date :cry: I'm sure guys like Tutua, Pala, and Trap (possibly more?! Zane?) will be up for it. I'll ask around the boys next time I see them.

It's just a few weeks after CDs and a while before the next comp, so should be plenty of time for a deload + some general implement training :nod:

Well worth the trip everybody, last year was awesome, very well run event, cool atmosphere (whenever I think of it I can hear bagpipes :pfft:), sweet prizes... no Nate or Wookie competing so us mortals are a decent chance! :grin: Get there!

* Truck Pull - a babyweight! Probably 9 tonne or slightly less for 15 - 20 metres or so? Will have rope to pull on and a decent harness.

* Log Press (for Reps) - 2 athletes at a time, logs set at 75kg - max reps (ground to lockout) in 60 seconds

* Farmers Walk - usual 100kg for 50 metres, turn at 25m

* Axle Press (for Max) - 50mm axle, overhead, rising bar format

* Stone Loading - natural stones 75, 80, 95, 120, 155kg onto barrells - fastest time/most loaded wins.

Lol, that's pretty much the perfect contest event wise for a guy like me.

2 overhead events out of 5, plus truck, farmers and stones. Love it.

Too bad it's on the same day as NZSM.

Yep - a shame the two clash now.

But from others POV with you and Nick tied up with NZSM, me not competing, the HW & U105's are anyones title for the taking!

Should be good to watch!

Fuuuuck Foote is doing it! Damn him!

I think we should hit up Blair, he would do very well.

I agree. He could do with some cash & protein too! :grin:

Wow is is that time again? Seems like only yesterday :wink: Hmmmm should I come and defend my title :grin:

Yes!! The field events are on the Sat again - I'm not running them but would love to see you take them out again. Place to stay again if you want?

A brief update on HBSM....

Kori James is going to rep for the rugby boys!

Should be interesting to see how an ITM Cup level Front Rower can go in strongman! :nod:

Also Kendall's bringing a mate from Mitre10 Mega - maybe Levi's recruiting Strongmen down there!

PRIZES

HBSM supplements prizes, kindly sponsored by www.bodybuilding.co.nz , will be given out after each event:

* Inner Armour Super Quad Protein (4.4lb) for the "Showmans" award (Trapfat & Maddog are always good for these busting out calf poses & screaming at the crowd! :grin: ).

* Rage Pre-Workout for the "Brute Strength" award.

HBSM cash prizes, sponsored by Allied Security & Hirepool are $50, 30, 20,10 per event (no weight classes, although the overall HBSM & U105 HBSM results will be calculated).

Our major sponsor Allied Security (check them out at www.alliedsecurity.co.nz for all your Security needs!) have donated some extra funding to buy a trophy.

Rather than a tarnished tin cup I thought I go for a mounted sword with some shields for winners to engrave. Being put together as we speak - went for Excalibur due to the symbolic act of strength when King Arthur freed it from the rock (poetic huh? :grin: )

Awesome!

Is truck pull seated pulling a rope with back and arms or is it in a harness pulling it?

Proper harness attached thru powerbelt. Will also be a rope for you to pull on to help keep body low to the ground.

Remember - start tight with a high squat type movement, stay low, small deliberate steps (to avoid being thrown sideways) and build momentum.

Here's how Pudz does it:

  • 3 weeks later...

Have got the Tee's printed & the Excalibur sword trophy mounted and at the printers. Have the previous years winners (HW/U105) engraved on shields to mount as a historical record. Should be one of the best trophies I've seen - will post pics tonight when I pick it up.

Weather is looking a bit ho hum down here atm, but it is Hawkes Bay so it'll likely be a sunny day! Either way we run rain, hail or shine! It is Strongman afterall! :grin:
