Some guys do need to do it, it's individual... at least he's lifting some weight. I have to say it's a bit annoying when someone is like that and only doing baby weights. But that's relative I guess... plus Meataxe is my generation of bodybuilder, we come up in pretty much dungeon type gyms where guys spat in corners and every bastard made as much or as little noise as they wanted and no one worried cos that's what you do in gyms.

Clearly a gym with 90k dumbells is expecting guys to make some noise!

lol we got this extreme yeller dude at my gym...always has been staring at him and shaking their head, in that being said if you're going real heavy then that's totally fine IMO

I don't see why people worry about what other people do in the gym, I mean if someones making noise how is it less annoying than listening to a couple of dickheads talk about their weekend or that shit music that's always on in gyms.

it doesn't bother me too much or even any bro...but sometimes it's just like a big what the f*ck when you see this guy screaming AGHHH DAHHH WAAHHH AGHHH TWOO MMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAOOOOOOOOOOOOOR.....UP UP UP....LOOOOOOOOOOOWER ....DAHHH DAHH WAAHHH, with that being said I'd have a screamer in the gym anyday over a shadow boxer, or an ultra skinny dude wearing pants during summer while walking around the gym with his sleeves rolled up and pretending he has massive lats (yeah got those)

Never saw the need for it tbh it's all in the mind you know before you attempt the exe if your going to get it or not shouting out to let everyone around you know that your about to execute a fantastic feat when no one really gives two shits.

Personally I worry so much about holding my breath in and keeping tight forcing against the belt shouting would throw me off completly. Don't see it at my gym and you know there is some impressive weights being thrown around so is it just a bb thing

I was screaming like a banshee when I trained at the house... OB had to come and tell me to quiet down or at least do more than 60k on the bench.

Definitely a "look at me bb thing!" lol

Each to their own i guess, If its helping them to force out an extra rep or 2 or push past a previous best then all power to them. That being said screaming in a high pitch tone would be unacceptable :pfft: . I usually have my i pod up to loud to hear them anyway.

I make a little bit of noise but only when Im on the last couple of reps of a fucken heavy set and its not at an unacceptable level.

Mark Meataxe is just a meathead. His ROM is on par with GR squats and yelling and headbutting the stack of dumbbells before a failed attempt at heavily spotted 1RM DB bench with the 90s? Bro you couldn't even do the 70s properly

I think he was just hamming it up for the cameras but If a guy like that trained at my gym Id tell him to shut up.

I think his spotter had more of a workout when he started doin them big dumbells.

Extreme grunting at my old gym was usually done by the guys I considered f*ck wits before I even witnessed them showering the gym with their spit.

One guy (we called him grunter funnily enough) used to yell and grunt and go on while spotting his mates. why.

Meataxe has been around the Australian BBing scene for a long time. He's a bit of a legend on Anabolex & FB & has always been a bit OTT. As Harry said he's from the old school where noise, sweat & bad language was an acceptable part of a hardcore gym. Man was that an impressive DB Rack at his gym. Makes my gym look like Contours :D

It's interesting to note so many people think it's offensive to make some noise while you train. I'm personally a pretty quiet hide in the corner kind of trainer but I don't mind if guys make noise while they train. As to people screaming at their training partners and that kind of thing to urge them on or motivate them well hell that's just what motivates that individual. As to it being a bb thing, I used to train a 50 year old 47 kilo powerlifter and before her heavy lifts she used to get a big slap between her shoulder blades and a verbal rev up and she was good to go, she grunted when she lifted and is currently ranked as the number 1 PL in her federation in aus.

What's the big deal? I don't like smelly people, that's offensive, I don't like people not putting their weights away, that's just lazy and I'm definitely no fan of wankers who utilise mulltiple stations and bbs and dbs and don't try and work in with the people around them, selfish pricks.... but someone lifting heavy shit and making some noise. Good on them!! You generally find guys like Meataxe are gentlemen and as helpful as anything.
