It is my theory that sicence always debunks any type of religion or just about anything that is unexplained because they cannot explain it. If they cant figure it out their answer is always "theres no scientific proof". Scientists cannot ilve with the idea that they are wrong since they believe that everything should and can be scietificaly proved. Well son there are things in life you cannot understand and there is nothing you can do about it.

I am unaware of any "real" science that aims to debunk religion...

Yes people do use science for their own agenda by saying science cannot prove religion, but that's the "people", not the science Darkmanx. Prolly what you meant but just want to clarify unless you know of some?

Science is progress, it doesn't or it shouldn't state that it is the end result.

You are right, there are things in life that cannot be understood, and for many religion is one of those things

Yeah i meant more its the scientists(people) not science.

TLDR this thread but IMO nothing wrong with believing there is such a thing as afterlife, a lot of people who claim that they don't will change their mind when faced in a life or death situation...not to be a c*nt and use this as an example but I am sure when the 9/11 attacks happened a lot of those people on those planes started to pray and ask for forgivness out of fear of dying or even thinking what would become of them after death...

I'd like to think I hold my own personal views not because of fear, (which is what some religions seem to push to keep the masses in line! ), but because I genuinely believe them or find that the placebo effect in itself is worth the belief!

I wrote a 7 volume bible just now, but deleted it. we could rant on all day, really...

synopsis:

really, I don't know, and at this stage in life, don't think about it often. My time will run out, as it has for billions of lives in our human history, and I will fade from the minds of people that know me once they die off. Eventually, no one will know me.

Only real experiences with people count. Reading about someone isn't accurate.

Where we go to next is of no consequence to the living, as we already know we are gone from this place. We will find out when we de, or if total elimination is on the cards, we won't know. Like going to sleep, no one knows when the exact moment of sleep occurs, and we are gone.

or, we could all take a decent handful of gold top mushrooms and peel back the layers of reality until the answer is as obvious as our death being inevitable.

I laughed once, when I realised the meaning of life, and its destination. I didn;t tell my peers as it will all work out alright in the end.

Then when I came down, I could not recall the abstract concepts that revealed revelation. I was back as a man, still with no answers.

blurred in the vivid state, was I high and delusional, or accessing the real background to the engineering of life? fck knows.

BUt those days where teh best philosophical moments of my entire life.

wait, what is this thread about?

inb4 jigga reminds me I make no sense

I agree, just because we cannot prove something it doesn't mean that it is not true or doesn't exist.

Man can be so arrogant and don't like to think that there could be a living being higher than ourselves. If we are "it" why is there so much misery in the world?

Too true

We are limited by our abilities to perceive. If we were all blind, would we believe in colour?

With limited perception (or perhaps this is it and nothing more to perceive) how can we claim to know what lies beyond our ablities?

there is an afterlife.

We are all made out of energy, and energy is consistent forever. It never dies. Our flesh is only a host for our energy to live in, the energy itself is a living being. Christians, Jews and Muslims call this the "soul". However, those three religions (they actually pray to the same god) have interpret it all to there is an all might creator of everything etc..

Still you are in full control of your energy, an that energy is up to you to decide how you want to shape it.

There must be come kind of connection to the flesh and mind with the energy, as there are retards and stuff out there...

[MOD EDIT: No offensive comments, please.]

I try not to spend to much of my life thinking there must be more to it than this. Enjoy as much as you can as often as you can. The chance that we as individuals exist to be able to experience what we perceive as our reality is almost infinitely small. This is "probably" the only conscious life we will ever have as neutrons stuck together in a process of universal order to dis-order. We all have a part of us that hopes death isn't truly the end of "us". The real miracle is we have a life to live in these moments we call now as opposed to our nature to think forward about "what's next" ,preconceived ideas based upon faith or hope= assumption, assumption= the mother of all f*ck ups.

late night rant over.

i am not scared of death...just wouldnt wanna go horribly like being torn apart by sharks...or falling out of a hot air ballon or sumthin...that would just suck

Funnily enough, I'm going to a funeral in an hour - someone in their mid 70's who has been suffering from alzheimers for the last 12 months. For the last 6 months he hasn't known who his wife was, where he was, who his son was. Frankly I'd prefer death by shark / hot air balloon - it's quicker, and would make a far more interesting obituary

That's a tough one, grandparents go like this eventually and although they look puzzled when they see you, I always imagine that they're like a child and happy, they've got no worries in the world.

Remember when you were a kid and didn't have bills, didn't have a job or need to worry about preparing dinner, drive the kids to school. go shopping etc etc...that's a child's life and it's pretty good imo.

I hope I go senile and it's that good, but of course the ones around me won't think that...but what will I care I'll be senile! :pfft:

being a catholic and seeing the hypocrissy among friends and family and then religious strangers I was in a very confused state,Until I saw zeitgeist and came across george carlin and his wonderful wisdom,it shook my already shaky faith.

I dont push my atheist or woteva beliefs on anyone, because having an argument about and trying to convince someone of god's non existance is preety arrogant in itself considering our place in the universe ,I like to leave it as is ,as long as you treat people with respect those religious leaders can go f*ck themselves for all I care.

george carlin is my god now.

When people talk to me about religion in an overzealous way.. I ask them if they believe in Santa. Cos god is santa for grown ups! If you're good you get all these awesome things (leave him a cookie and milk) if you're bad... nothing!

jumping from a plane/balloon would be a rush! i'd rather go out off a cliff than in a bed.

same goes with a shark or bear. all i'd want is a knife

embrace death like a man when it comes
