For those who don't want to read - basically says Alberto Contador was stripped of his titles because he took clen.

I had no idea clen had any properties that would be advantageous in a sporting situation? Why would he take it? Surely there are better things to use than clen?

Was actually minimal traces of clen from contaminated meat(supposedly). Parts of Europe clen is used on live stock to produce a better yield, lower fat more muscle. The amount found was actually legal under the law as it was 400 times below the allowed limit. Just more bs from cycling tbh, guys under the allowed limit which is put in place for reasons just like this, and not just marginally under 400 times the limit under, yet hes banned anyway.

the main advantages are it causes fat (triglycerides) to be broken down into free fatty acids and used as energy to a greater extent, and increases your daily energy expenditure

Yes it does (reportedly) mobilise fat somewhat. But not significantly enough to be able to say that it is the mode of action for this drug.

The main reason it works is because it increases metabolic rate (by about 10% if I remember correctly), this increased metabolic rate in turn raises body temperature a little. You'll burn more energy because you're running hotter - put simply.

Now, with Clen... you still need to be running at a calorie deficit witness any appreciable fat loss. It doesn't just burn fat per se, it facilitates the burning of energy... so if you're eating too much you wont experience any weight loss.

Doesn't it act primarily on your sympathetic nervous system so of course if you are over eating you won't lose shit, that's true of anything however if you are maintaining weight at for example 2000cals/day then adding clen will make you drop weight if you did nothing but maintain your diet rather than also taking yourself into calorie deficit. Effectively by stimulating your sympatetic nervous system it increases your daily caloric requirement so alone it will put you in a calorie deficient state without you necessarily decreasing you cals.

Until of course your body adjusts to it and then a calorie reduction and/or increased dosing would need to occur for you to experience further weight loss.

 Lets keep it simple, its a stimulant (beta agonist), actions covered by Harry's comments.

May also have some anticatabolic effects though unsure if proven, though it has been claimed similarly for other stimulants in the past (e.g. ephedrine). If this is the effect you are after I'd suggest there are better ways of going about it.
