Thinking of buying some Xanthan gum to give my shakes a thicker texture. Should I avoid using this stuff in my post workout shake and will it have an effect on protein absorption?

It will have an effect on protein absorption but it may not be too pronounced. I'd leave it out of your pwo shake.

Curious as to why you'd want to make your shakes more gloopy?

And/or just shake the shit out of it and drink it while it's still thick and foamy.

Also a teaspoon of oil makes a shake richer and thicker, as does a tablespoon of icecream or a banana, using milk instead of water or a load of other things

I understand you are trying to not add cals and not slow protein absorption but you may be overthinking it. Just have your pwo shake with water and do whatever you want with any other shakes
