Crossfit is so epic

I dont get this thread?

its obvious there are idiot people in every gym.

without getting into an arguement again the first video isnt about building strength or muscle... its a fucking event. the point of that event is to get the bar above you head... how you do it is entirely up to you... you might say its dangerous, so is taking lasix and amizide before a bodybuilding competition!

and whats wrong with the second video? just because your bodys not functional and couldnt do that it automatically makes it a bad idea to do?

Threads like this just keep on giving the spotlight to the Crossfitters (which I don't mind), but I would rather be reading about tips and feedback about training, nutrition and competing (from BB, PL, SM and Oly) rather than focusing on the beginners of Crossfit.

If you're gonna post some Crossfit vids, post up the Crossfit story that was done on the Franks brothers - very inspirational guys.

Here it is :)

Our gym has its own crossfit box separate from the main gym.

So piss off!

Don't bite bro, it's not worth it. You'll just get into an internet mud slinging match.

Just train hard, consistently fill out your journal and show everyone your results through Crossfit.

All the best.

it's ok man, I understand you've misjudged the intent of my post.

Rather than post just the image up and imply it's "my post" I did make the point above of clarifying that it was doing the rounds. I should have clarified with a more descriptive intro...

My point of view is that it's great and I used to love this kind of training!

I was in on the SMS because of my Army time where every PT session is like Crossfit...errr Crossfit is like every Army PT session :pfft:

Slight variations in the Army of course, we didn't throw barbells in the air to each other that would be dangerous. We threw telephone poles instead to each other in small groups. If one person in your team flinched or backed off as the telephone pole came hurtling your way the whole team would end up on their asses under the log!

There were a few chin cracks and sore shins from bouncing logs in those sessions.

That kind of training really pays off.

Onetime I can remember coming up to Aucks and doing a full marathon in battle kit (25kg pack on your back, 5kg webbing, boots etc). Took us just under 5hrs to complete, we never stopped running or jogging the whole way and we were beaten by the Papakura team, go figure.

Good luck with your run on the 26th Tom, 4m30s kms isn't that fast but give it all you've got and you may surpass that on the day!

I want some of those plates.. way to make a light weight look huge. I guess it adds to the sense of accomplishment.

Crossfit is a good system, certainly very popular. Great if you have a great trainer, like all things I guess.

Nice post Android, interesting insight into the drive you had in your early years that's reflected now in how you approach your current training. Even if an unintentional reflection still interesting to read.

IMO...good functional power cardio or strength training as long as it has been coached correctly and form is adhered too is a useful tool for training and conditioning.

New growth areas in sport in the States are Crossfit Physio, Crossfit Chiropractors and Crossfit Osteopath however and generally we see crap form, poor coaching and sadly this seems to reflect on everyone doing Crossfit.

Do they preach diet as well anyone know? I ask because a good friend and a workmate have been very active on the CF scene and are now both on that paleo diet and have leaned out like fuark. Or perhaps just merely co-incidence? either way it works well along side a diet as with any form of exercise with rapid results.

everyone?

You won't see anyone at my box with poor form, and if someone needs correcting then they have to stop what they're doing and practice it until they have it.

How about doing some research on the coaches in NZ, speaking to them, doing a free trial at a CF branch.. instead of watching stupid youtubes of people throwing bars at each other (not saying you specifically steak, but everyone in general).

M.T - they preach Primal and Paleo as a lifestyle over a diet, most will encourage the participant to do some research on it and come to their own conclusions.

I think what he's saying is that the actions of a few effects how CF is perceived by a lot of people. It's a very general statement made in a very general way and having been in gyms all of my adult life one I tend to agree with. Much the same way a few dickhead bbers or a couple of noisy PLers can do effect how every percieves either of those groups.
