Anybody train at this gym? im thinking of signing up there. All i need to know tho is if it has a powerrack for squatting/deadlifting? cos on the website all i see is a lot of machines and dumbells. really need bars.

It's a good gym mate.

Have been a few times and yes it has a few squat racks, what's a powerrack compared to a squat rack? much difference?

It has alot of different gear and machines and is surprisingly big inside. They keep the cardio away from the weights area (mostly, some of the leg machines are nearby).

Am sure you can go in and do a trial membership or casual pass.

I liked it

Thanks.

Allowed to deadlift at that gym? some gyms are fussy about the ground/surface.

You can throw stuff around they have plenty of big weights and big boys that go there. Tony's an ex-Bodybuilder and his missus might still compete....

I've trained with Stan, Mateo, and Sam there before and they seemed to like it (BBers).

I was going to join at one stage when I lived in Mt Roskill but I worked in the city so it was LM for me, otherwise it was way better than anything closeby, you won't be disappointed but have them up for a free visit or train.

Its definitely a good gym compared to what's close by. As said on previous posts he is a former BB and he knows what should be in a gym. Only issue is heavy weights and equipment are on top, and if you are the kinda person copying how jay cutler lifts 100kgs+ and drops on the floor forget joining here.

Ive been a member for about 1 year now, equpment and weights wise perfect place, there is a classic squat rack, 3 smith machines, and a more modern type squat rack. No cage.

Prob the best gym in the area based on my last scout around. No cage anymore and the "lifting platform" has a hole in it. Few signs around stating if ya cant control it use a lighter weight. I once dropped a db and got a bollocking over the P.A system.

Can get busy at peak times with a few mirror poses, but thats the same everywhere isnt it?

Deffinatley worth checking out, and if your able to train during the day its great. Only other gym near ish I would look at is Miada.

Are there still a large community of poser kebab eaters and Somali pirates? The trouble with it being so close to Roskill is that they all gravitated to Tony's. I was a member probably 5 years ago, and when it was busy, if you removed the '20 sets of 30kg with spotters at both ends of the bar' bench press people, you probably had 10 people actually weight training. Yet it had about 40 people there.

And that grunter on the light sets who wore too short shorts, is he still there? homo

I try to stay away from there after 3pm as thats when it starts getting busy. there are alot of people there I don't like training around, but then I don't really like many people anyway so could just be me.

I'm thinking of going for a look at Miada Otahuhu next week actually as i just heard about that 600 bux for 24 months deal. deffinatley worth a look at that price!
