Hi all, i was wondering if anyone could give me any details of some personal trainers. i am looking for a personal trainer that can help me do some serious muscle growth training. i have tried using the trainers at my gym, but they seem to be more into "feeling great" and "getting fit the fun way" definitely not what im into. so if anyone knows of anyone or is one please let me know. i am in the east auckland area, but could go into the city if needed. Thanks!

A noob trainer was taking to me earlier today thought i would ask him about nutrition ,he told me have 6 servings of carbs,1 serving or fat and 2 servings of protein a day each a about the size of your palm and and index finger thick.he also told majority of the men in nz are fat because they eat way too much protein. :pfft:

I asked what about calories and percentages of cfp,he said those were just fad diets

Back on topic , i would only get a trainer that is on this forum.

No kidding he even mentioned NZ RDA ,it was like listening to box of keloggs cornflakes telling me how to be healthy.

Dont understand how u can be a trainer an not be part of the fitness scene just boggles my mind ,he looked like he had never stepped into the gym before probably just went for jogs with his trusty ipod.

Hi Sams. which gym are you at at the moment?

Are you looking at changing gyms or just getting a PT to write a program for you and do it at your gym?

Thanks for the comment. Im currently at the Revitalize in East Tamaki, not looking to change gym just for a trainer to give me some advise on nutrition and give me a program. ive tried a lot of programs that i have found online but i think i really need to actually talk to person and get a routine that suits my body type and my life style not just one that some professional athlete dose.

Hi,

So what have you been doing up till now? Is it not working for you? Consuming enough calories to build muscle is very important, google calorie needs. You will never stumble across the "right" routine, you gotta keep changing what you do, never stick to the same rep ranges and exercises for weeks on end. Recovery is important, everyone has different abilities to recover from training, so finding out how much volume for each and every muscle of YOUR own is necessary. Good luck.

  • 3 weeks later...

My opinion on personal trainers.

The nutrition is much more important than just lifting weights for few hours a week.

The personal trainer should give you eating plan of how much protein, carbs, fat to take for your goals.

And they should have experience helping the clients reaching their full potential learn mass gain. If 10 lb is the max potential, the client should gain 10 lb of muscle in 1 year.

and the client will if they take some self responsibility out of the gym for what they do.

A personal trainer can only help you and guide you... The actual work you have to do.

 and thats why people spend hundreds of dollars a week on P.T and never see results then blame the P.T and say hes shit or whatever because they dont have the discipline outside of the gym to reach their goals.
