Hi ladies,

I'm wanting to drop a few kilos for a comp in March.

Been looking at a few supplement site and didn't realise there were so many to choose from. I have seen such as "Ripped Freak" and "Mutant Shred".

Anyone had success with any they brought and if so, how successful and the brand name would be appreciated.

Thanks and happy lifting :)

I would go to a supp store and get them to show you thier range of fat burners. If you explain them your needs and they'll help pick you out one that should be good for you and help explain the use of it.

There are different types with different ingredients giving different effects, it also depends on how you've found you cope with things like caffeine and what time of day you are training, if you are doing cardio etc.

More info about your training and diet maybe would be helpful and people might be able to suggest things?

Thanks Dinah,

Diet i'm following is as follows.

After losing 25kgs this is what i eat now.

Breakfast: 2 slices Burgen Women's wellbeing.

1 poached egg

1 tsp lite margarine

Coffee with trim milk and splenda

Lunch: 200gm chicken breast (poached)

1 cup steamed veges

1/2 c cooked cous cous

30 gm low fat cheese

Dinner: 200gm steak (sliced, marinated in lowsodium soya sauce and garlic)

1 cup veges

1 Weight Watchers jelly

I don't drink alcohol (ever) and allow my self an occasional "Free meal" such as Butter Chicken (homemade with no oil, skinless chicken) or subway.

Still losing weight slowly, but gaining lean muscle mass so that's good. Just thought i'd give a supplement a try if i don't get down enough for my prefered weight division.

Training as follows:

Alternating upper body/lower body with a day on day off program.

Eg Monday: Lower body

Wednesday: Upper body

Friday:Lower body

Sunday:Upper body

I also fit in cardio by way of boxfit on Tuesday and Thursday. Abs every workout day.

And I give myself at least one day off from training/cardio a week.

It'd be good to now fat loss boosters if there are good ones out there

I'm not so familiar with ladies' diets, so I'll leave any suggestions to those that are.

But if you're still making reasonable progress gaining muscle and losing fat, then I'd hold off the fat burners for as long as possible. Better to keep them up your sleeve and use them when you get stuck.

As far as the brands go though, check out our Supplements forum for people's reviews. I don't think you need to worry about getting a specific brand for women.

Diet and training look good!!

My first suggestions if you are seeing that your fat loss is slowing down would be to lift heavier on the weights and then change up the intensity of your cardio try out some different interval training, there are lots of ideas on bodybuilding.com that are easy to navigate if you just search the website.

My Second suggestion would be to incorporate some low carb snacks in between your meals to keep your body in a fat burning and muscle building state, so something just like plain chicken cut up you can add as a snack in between breakfast lunch and dinner and maybe something pre bed, but all protein based, if this is difficult or isn't possible I would think about getting a Whey protein to serve this same purpose as shakes can be more convenient.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Yeah, Dinah. I have been looking at taking some Whey Protein. Myofusion appeals to me, as they have a yum banana shake. Lol. Was thinking of "uping" my weights gradually each week to hopefully gain some musle mass and maybe burn a bit of fat too. A bit of variety in my cardio would definately help and aleviate the boredom too. Thanks a lot. As a newbie, i really appreciate any feedback i get :)

I'm with Dinah on the intervals - High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) can really deliver. If timing permits, even 10m of cardio right after weights could have benefits for fat burning (and it's not going to cost you a hundred bucks a bottle!).

Again, following Dinah's advice, this article is a good place to start.

If you're going to buy something - Hydroxycut hardcore from iherb.com.

One of the best fat loss products on the market and you'll pay half the price getting it online rather than a local supplement shop.

If it's an American company it may not turn up but you could receive a nice medsafe letter instead

NZ and Aus markets use different formulas to the rest of the world , alot of the stuff in the "real" Hydroxycut Hardcore is banned here.

The stuff off the shelf in NZ is designed for our market so lacks the good stuff which is available overseas making it a bit weaker.(Thanks Uncle Helen  )

If you are getting stuff through then count yourself lucky , its just a matter of time before you do get a letter and your name will be redflagged so you end up losing your money and getting nothing.

Im with Dinah - go to a supp store with staff that know what they are talking about to purchase , there still are ok products in NZ.

had a mate go to supplement 2000 and the dude or chick behind the counter tried to sell him their brand of fat burner saying it's much more effective and potent than other brands, end of the day people who work at supplements stores are mostly salesmen....some might know what they're on about but end of the day they'll just sell you something that could be bunk

btw +1 to hydroxycut...helped me with my 20kg loss

On March 27, 2003, Missouri Attorney General Jay Nixon filed a lawsuit in St. Louis against Hydroxycut's manufacturer MuscleTech Research and Development, Inc stating that claims Hydroxycut was "clinically proven" to be a "fat-burner" were false, specifically:

"The product is not "clinically proven" to be a "fat-burner," as MuscleTech claims. MuscleTech's own study showed that Hydroxycut has no efficacy as compared to placebo with the possible exception of an appetite-suppressing effect..."

Nixon also alleged that the "before" and "after" photographs were misleading, and that one woman's "before" photo was deceptive because she was recently pregnant. MuscleTech paid $100,000 to settle the case while denying any wrongdoing.

i have my doubts about a lot of fat loss stuff on the market in regard to actually increasing fat loss when the same amount of energy is obtained from food.

A lot of (if not all) the legal stuff just seems to act mainly (or entirely) as an appetite suppressant and/or a placebo.

People seem to take their dieting more seriously when they take fat loss supplements, but if they did the same thing (ie eating less) and took nothing they would acheive the same results.

Dont waste your money...just eat less and continue excercising

Having followed my own eating plan but adding a snack or two of protein (thanks Dinahlady for that tip) i have lost a kilo this week.

I've also added at least 2 HIIT sessions at the end of my weights training which i think has helped too. At this rate, i should be able to drop enough for my comp. Thanks for all the feedback guys. Happy lifting :D

why would you add low carb snacks into her diet, that's just adding more calories even if they are just protein meaning she's gonna lose even less bodyfat.

You don't need to stoke your metabolism by eating more often, broscience.
