Best Gyms in West Aux?

Recommended Posts

Heya peoples,

Just wondering if anyone could let me know the best gyms in West Aux? I have recently moved there and there are quite a few choices (club physical, les mills, Don Oliver etc etc), but i don't have the time to go round them all. If anyone has some reccommendations that would be great, but nothing further west than henderson.

Cheers! :)

What are you looking for in a gym, Emmzies? Wolf's is good unless you want classes. Club Physical Te Atatu used to be good, then went downhill and lost a lot of members, but I met someone a few months ago who said he was really happy with it again.

I'm not a huge classes fan, but then again i have done some in the past since i was a les mils member for 5 years in chch. I've heard bad things about Club Physical as well, but i probably shouldn't disregard them entirely. I guess i just want cleanliness, a large variety of equipment, particually cardio and free weights. I'm going to give New Lynn Les mills a free try since lots of people have said its great.

Club physical westgate

but no one can compete with Les mills new Lynn as far as facilities abs hygiene goes. It's a good gym for the females. Very much you get what you pay for.

Pay peanuts you'll be left on your own, miada and wolfs have no customer service.. And are 24/7 so the owners don't have to pay someone to be there which means no help... Everyone says "oh but I dnt need help"... Well how come u look like shit then? Lol

club physical has gyms all over Auckland that you can use freely at no extra cost.

^ well since you brought up customer service, I'd also like to make a good mention towards WestWave in Henderson. Really top notch, instructors always more than happy to take time out to sort you with programs/nutrition advice and a bit of encouragement now and then (at no additional cost!). also if you a bit of a beginner like me... they walk past you & see sloppy form, they'll stop & kindly correct you before you snap something.

another positive is that they have reasonable rates with no 'subscription' so you're not stuck there if you later decide you don't like it, big separate cardio section downstairs and reasonable selection of equipment (though not super high equipped, it's pretty good!). not 24h but pretty reasonable opening hours

cheers for the tips. I actually hadn't heard of WestWave. I may check it out as i really like the idea of not being stuck to a 12 month + contract.

Yeah i tend to agree with you there. I have joined 3 gyms since i moved to auckland a year ago (was previously with les mils in chch) and every gym has been not even comparable to the facilities i had at Les Mills. A special negative mention deserves to go to Contours - the crappest, most overpriced and under equipped gym i have ever joined. Its more expensive than Les Mills, and has ancient, unsafe disgustingly dirty weights equipment that should have been donated to a prison or something many years ago. Manukau branch is the worst, although henderson was pretty atrocious too.
