Head pain while weight lifting

hey, whenever I seem to workout I seem to get a strenuous pain in the lower right hand side part of the back of my head. This continues to throb for a while after.

Wondering if you have had the same?

I have been doing some research myself and sounds like muscles in the neck or even high blood pressure...

Hope you can help.

unlikely to actually do anything to help really. will probably tell you not to lift for a while so it heals itself properly and doesnt keep bursting. you could always just take a few days off lifting heavy and see if that helps.

if youve got plenty of money and dont mind forking out, then go

I've said this before somewhere on the forum

you taking any supps?

I used to get dibilitating headache while lifting, but it was because I was taking creatine and drinking about 6L of water a day and doing cardio - drying myself out basically. I started taking an electrolyte (sodium and potassium) and it went away almost immediately.

Can always try it.

When did the pain start(to the op)?

Also how is drinking heaps of water and taking creatine going to dry yourself out? Unless you are literally sweating buckets I would think the excess fluid and fluid retention caused by the creatine combined with not getting enough sodium and potassium was the cause. Seems to me like instead of drying out you where probably slightly overhydrating and not eating enough salt.

Could be this. I get strong head pain when using creatine also. Or your lifting so heavy the blood pressure is building up inside your head. Push to hard and your head will completely explode

Hey man,

Go to the doc man, Get him to do all the usual check as well as urinalysis and maybe bloods. No big deal unless he puts a rubber glove on and gets you to bend over. LOL But even that can be worth it considering what he checking for. Anyman if in doubt go to the doc not worth the gambol.

go to doctor. might be nothing - but might be the onset of something bad. never mess about or self diagnose especially when it concerns your head

a classic sign of the onset of multiple sclerosis is deteriorating vision when exercising (relates to the change in body temp) - most people would put it down to a migraine

good luck

Basically what I meant, whatever, drinking too much water not enough electrolytes.

so what did the doctor reckon?

Caught up with b3h3m0th666 the other day, he said the doctor took swabs from his mouth and his rectum.

Subsequent microbiology lab tests confirmed the same E Coli strain was present in both locations, confirming initial suspicions that he's been talking shit just to get out of sets when the going gets tough!!! :pfft: :pfft:

Seriously big guy, what did the Doc say?

Strong e-doctors in this thread lol.

Nothing to worry about bro, it is most likely the muscles in your neck straining. check your posture and don't look too high up or too far down when lifting. Also check your breathing, inhale on eccentric exhale on concentric, don't hold your breath, it can cause your blood pressure to rise and cause the pain.

There is a type of headache called exertional headache, it's 10/10 pain that makes some people come into the ED.. Best to see go see a doctor, maybe even a neurologist, maybe even get an MRI to rule out an aneurysm or bleed, just depends how worried you are. More likely to just be primary exertional headache (i.e. nothing too serious) if migraines run in your family.. Good luck..
