post-10028-14166823721757_thumb.jpgApparently posting 5 blogs enables me to send private messages so here is my intro continued. At 37 years old I have been around gyms since 1994. The majority of my training since then was rugby league specific, till the end of 2005 when it was time to call it a day.

In February 2006 upon basing myself in London I met a group of polish chaps at the local gym in Wood-green, North london, and it was there that my affair with 'lifting heavy' started. To cut a long story short when I returned to NZ in late 2007 I was benching 200kg, deadlifting and squatting (full squat) 180kg and smashing out a reasonable number of proper 'full range' pull-ups, all feats that I had never accomplished beforehand. I learnt alot from my polish brothers and I can still hear them in my mind saying Davaj (pronounced Davai) braat (push brother) whenever I am struggling.

Any way a dislocated elbow and a whole lot of personal drama saw me lose all my strength and size, but now I have the resolve to get back to where I was and know that by the end of this year I will be happy with my progress.

Um one question.. you were benching 200kg and only deadlifting and squatting 180kg? Do you mean benching 100kg?

Yes, benching 200kg and deadlifting and squatting 180. Neglected legs for many years (chicken legs) and never entertained the thought of dead lifts before meeting my polish brothers. Thank you for welcoming me.

In a t-shirt up at the Miada gym Auckland when it was based on Newton Road. Struggling to bench 100kg at the moment but as my polish brothers used to say to me ' slow progress better than no progress braat'.

Oh wow that's a good accomplishment.

Yep you can only do what you can do, so if you do what you can do well, then the next time you hit the gym you can do slightly more.
