Squats make me sick

as topic says... squatting makes me really nauseous

how long ive been squatting:

- got back into it (seriously) end of september, after couple years off

how i squat:

- few warmup sets

- 4-5 working sets @160kg, 6-8 reps

- ass to calve

how they make me feel:

- nauseous as f*ck after the 2nd set

- this has been getting progressively worse

what i've tried to do about it:

- suck in air + push gut out at the bottom (does kind of help)

- focus on breathing properly

while these things help, i still get nauseous and dizzy enough that i gotta rest 4-5 minutes between my 3rd and 4th set (longer between 4th and 5th, if i even make it to 5). i could man up and try anyway, but my form would be shit and i wouldn't hit 6-8 reps

been thinking diet may have something to do with it, so i'll include that (everything before my workout):

1) oats (1cup), milk (1.5 cup), protein powder (2 scoops)

2) chicken (breast, no skin), rice (1cup uncooked), no seasoning/sauce

3) chicken (breast, no skin), rice (half cup uncooked), no seasoning/sauce

4) shake (500ml blue top milk), protein powder (1 scoop) - bout 2hours before workout)

5) 1mr preworkout

obviously done a bit of reading around before posting, but way too much conflicting info. can anyone see any holes? am i doing something wrong? not doing something?

Ummm, yeah I think you need to grow some balls!

tried that, not helping

im the same bro but its headaches, HTFU is not always the most effective resolution

yea bro, sucks

Squatting can be hard on the nervous system bro. I used to have the same problem when starting out and when going heavier than i was used to . It may just take a while for your body to get used to the stress. What are you rest periods between sets?

the goal for the working sets is 2 mins, but yea as i said the nausea gets pretty bad after the second set so rest shoots up heaps, like 4-5 mins, sometimes more

the weird thing is ive been doing 160, sometimes 180 when up to it (6 reps), since late november, and the nausea wasn't so bad. just been getting worse this last month or so

A quote from Arnie:

The body that isn't used to maybe the ninth, tenth, eleventh, and twelfth rep with a certain weight. So that makes the body grow, then. Going through this pain barrier. Experiencing pain in your muscles and aching and just go on and go on. And this last two or three or four repetitions that's what makes the muscle then grow. And that divides one from a champion and one from not being a champion.

lf you can go through this pain barrier, you may get to be a champion. If you can't go through, forget it. And that's what most people lack, is having the guts. The guts to go in and just say, ''l'll go through and l don't care what happens.'' lt aches, and if l fall down I have no fear of fainting because l know it could happen. l threw up many times while l was working out.

But it doesn't matter, because it's all worth it.

You have too much water in your tummy, try it with an empty stomach, you shouldnt have issues after the first workout, on leg days i have a concentrated shot of my pre work out as in half the water with same amount of scoop and i just have a sip or 2 during the work out,try it out.

I often get the same problem. Find it's reduced if I'm careful I don't eat or drink too closely beforehand.

Still feel sick after doing them quite often - but I often feel that I have pushed myself quite hard. To be honest, I just found that if I carry on my training but do exercises that require lighter weights, and therefore less stressful on CNS, then i tend to feel fine after about 20 - 30 minutes.

I have come close at times to feeling sick after training legs and also for the first time when I did FST-7 training. When I am doing smith machine squats I rest one or two minutes between sets and suck in more air in

I found I have the same problem on big leg days if im drinking too much during the workout. Last few sets you can feel the gut turning about feeling like everythings going to come back up.

Could be gastrointeritis or a compressed nerve in your back.

You also could be bensing to far rorward in the botton position, resulting in a cramped aorta.

Also could be unusually low blood pressure which can be hereditery

informative, reps
